Are cryptocurrency price changes predictable

Inan

The purpose of this research is to identify how effective the determinants of the price changes in cryptocurrencies are and if they are predictable. The study addresses several independent variables that are in our consideration which may impact the prices the most. To obtain the results, panel data has been used to run fixed effects models. Then I treated them as time series data to run dynamic, distributed lags, and first-differencing regression models. Important political shocks and instabilities have been analyzed and interpreted in this paper. In the light of our findings we were able to comment on the complex relation between cryptocurrency prices and socio-political situations throughout the time range. The results address that cryptocurrency price changes are not predictable. It is hard to say what does affect the most prices. Internet search trends seem to have an impact but at the end it has been found that the correlation is not strong. From an economist's viewpoint, investing in cryptocurrencies without analyzing price changes and news might be disastrous and we can call it basically gambling. Cryptocurrencies shouldn't be seen as a gambling medium and should be taken more seriously like an investment medium. In some specific occasions investing in cryptocurrencies may lead lucrative income.

The Prospects for the Use of Digital Technology “Blockchain” in the Pharmaceutical Market

Vladimir Plotnikov, Valentina Kuznetsova

The development of information technology in the modern economy is one of the drivers of economic growth. Digital technologies are developing at an accelerating pace. Digitalization stimulates not only economic, but also social and technological progress. The impact of digital technology in different industries is not the same. The authors of the article consider such promising modern technology as Blockchain. Its advantage is that the information is protected from unauthorized modification. This transforms the system of economic relations. The level of trust increases. Opportunistic behaviour of participants in contractual relations is blocked. As a result, economic efficiency improves. These positive effects are analyzed in the case of the pharmaceutical industry. The introduction of Blockchain technologies into pharmaceuticals allows you to track all stages of production of drugs and guarantee their quality. Blockchain technology allows you to confirm the authenticity of recipes and the drugs with the help of special digital devices. The consequence of this is a reduction in the number of counterfeit drugs on the market, as well as improving the quality of medical care for the population.

A structured framework to assess the business application landscape of blockchain technologies.

Gianluca Salviotti, Leonardo Maria De Rossi, Nico Abbatemarco

Blockchain is emerging as a game changing technology in many industries. Although it is increasingly capturing the business community’s attention, a comprehensive overview of commercially available applications is lacking to date. This paper aims to fill this gap. Firstly, we propose a structured approach to assess the application landscape of blockchain technologies. To build our framework, we relied on largely accepted classifications of blockchains, based on protocols, consensus mechanisms and ownership, as well as on the most cited application areas emerging from the literature. Secondly, we applied the framework on a database of 460 released blockchains. The analysis confirms a dominance of applications for cryptocurrencies, financial transactions and certification purposes, with a prevalence of permissionless platforms. We also found new application fields that go far beyond the seven initial areas addressed by the current body of knowledge, leading to some interesting takeaways for both practitioners and IS researchers.

A Remote Attestation Security Model Based on Privacy-Preserving Blockchain for V2X

Cheng Xu, Hongzhe Liu, Peifeng Li, Pengfei Wang

The vehicle to everything (V2X) requires the real-time integration of all kinds of information on roads, pedestrians, the environment, and vehicles themselves. This information also needs to be shared with other vehicles. The effective integration of information and the strong privacy protection are the key restrictions on the development of the V2X. The previous privacy protection model has mainly focused on the centralized network, and there were problems with the centralized gateway and single-point decision, which were not suitable for the decentralized scenario. Therefore, this paper proposes a remote attestation security model based on a privacy-preserving blockchain. The overall model involves two core steps. First, the vehicle provides the network with an evidence of a credible identity and integrity. Secured, the vehicles in the network calculate the nodes to make their respective decisions, and the accounting nodes summarize the sub-conclusions, form the final results, and write them into data blocks. The analysis shows that it possesses the security features of decentralization, traceability, anonymity, irreplaceability, and high efficiency. The model framework, core block chain structure, and protocol process are described in detail. The experimental results based on a realistic infrastructure are presented. These experimental results demonstrate that our scheme can effectively enhance the security of the communications of intelligent vehicles in the V2X.

Impuestos, Tasas y Contribuciones en el presupuesto del GAD Municipal de Vinces

Espinoza Carranza, Melba Roxana

The Municipal Autonomous Decentralized Government of Vinces in a Public entity, with administrative-financial autonomy in charge of planning, managing and executing its own resources in order to solve each one the needs required by the communities in question to public works, basic services among others , exercising the capacities and competences attributed by COOTAD in complementarity with the Constitution that promotes territorial development and the change to good living. The present case study was developed according to the sub-line of FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL COMMITMENT with the theme: Taxes, Fees and Contributions in the Budget of the Municipal GAD of the Canton of Vinces, applying as a method the descriptive research (Sampieri, 2014) and as Information collection instrument was used interviews that were made to the Financial Department, in order to know what drawbacks are presented in the collections corresponding to the first group of current income or Self-management. Where will be analyzed the accounts that have less participation in question to collection within the periods 2016 and 2017. In order to know more about this topic, the field research technique was used, through the application of observation, interviews with the accounting assistants, information was obtained that would provide a broader knowledge on the subject addressed and at the same time it could be deduced that they are taking place in the collections of Taxes, Fees and Contributions, considering that these items are part of the budget line of the GADM of Vinces. 3 The Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador establishes principles of equity, territorial sustainability, and equality, promoting a mechanism for the development and strengthening of Decentralized Autonomous Governments in the distribution of public revenues, with the sole purpose of guaranteeing territorial development. In accordance with COOTAD, there are provisions that reduce the organizational structure of sectional governments and reduce administrative procedures with perspectives towards territorial change. (Batallan, 2013) On the other hand, the decentralization process, according to the territorial plan, seeks to insert development strategies creating participatory cultures that generate changes and institutional strengthening of the GAD of the country. (COOTAD, 2017). According to (Munoz, 2015), he mentions that Decentralization has the action of organizing, directing and administering powers of the different governments and in this way satisfying the basic needs that are part of the population's sustainability and development. According to the newspaper, (EL TELEGRAFO, 2015) 73% of the income of the municipalities of Ecuador comes from the transfers delivered by the Central Government and with a minimum percentage of 21% is the result of the income of these GAD. This data shows that the GADM depend on transfers from the Central Government for the execution of their projects or programs to be executed. The municipal GAD of Vinces collects taxes, fees and contributions that are taxes regulated by ordinances according to the legal framework of COOTAD, and there are also ordinances made according to municipal activity, without this going against a legal rule. These ordinances are carried out by the municipal council and once approved, the mayor will verify the legality of the process and, therefore, that it will be 4 find according to the Constitution. The publication of the approved ordinance should make known about the new decision-making act, and its dissemination will be made by the media, either by written press or radio or television advertising, so that it is known to the public. The GADM of Vinces presents the lack of tax payments by taxpayers, this causes that each year a high debt index is generated that affects the income of the budget. The possible cause that would be taking place is that there are no procedures that counteract the problem and that this in turn contributes to the fact that the high figures of accounts receivable each year do not increase.

Improved (Almost) Tightly-Secure Simulation-Sound QA-NIZK with Applications

Masayuki Abe, Charanjit S. Jutla, Miyako Ohkubo, Arnab Roy

We construct the first (almost) tightly-secure unbounded-simulation-sound quasi-adaptive non-interactive zero-knowledge arguments (USS-QA-NIZK) for linear-subspace languages with compact (number of group elements independent of the security parameter) common reference string (CRS) and compact proofs under standard assumptions in bilinear-pairings groups. In particular, under the SXDH assumption, the USS-QA-NIZK proof size is only seventeen group elements with a factor \(O(\log {Q})\) loss in security reduction to SXDH. The USS-QA-NIZK primitive has many applications, including structure-preserving signatures (SPS), CCA2-secure publicly-verifiable public-key encryption (PKE), which in turn have applications to CCA-anonymous group signatures, blind signatures and unbounded simulation-sound Groth-Sahai NIZK proofs. We show that the almost tight security of our USS-QA-NIZK translates into constructions of all of the above applications with (almost) tight-security to standard assumptions such as SXDH and, more generally, \(\mathcal{D}_k\)-MDDH. Thus, we get the first publicly-verifiable (almost) tightly-secure multi-user/multi-challenge CCA2-secure PKE with practical efficiency under standard bilinear assumptions. Our (almost) tight SPS construction is also improved in the signature size over previously known constructions.
