Factors influencing organisational efficiency in a smart-logistics ecological chain under e-commerce platform leadership

Weihua Liu, Jiahui Zhang, Shuang Wei, Di Wang

In smart-logistics ecological chains led by e-commerce platforms, the organisational efficiency has become an important indicator to measure the ecological chain’s development. However, no scientific theoretical framework exists regarding the factors affecting such organisational efficiency. This paper adopts a multi-case study method to research four e-commerce platforms in China and investigate the current situation and development of smart-logistics ecological chains. Through interviews and analysis, the research proposes a theoretical framework of factors influencing the organisational efficiency about smart-logistics ecological chains led by an e-commerce platform. First, it reveals that under e-commerce platform leadership, the smart-logistics ecological chain’s organisational efficiency directly relates to two factors: the eco-chain’s technological innovation capability and contract fulfilment. Second, national policies, consumer demands, the competition among ecological chains, and Information-sharing will indirectly affect the smart-logistics ecological chain’s organisational efficiency. Third, enhancing the smart-logistics ecological chain’s technological innovation capability positively impacts its contract fulfilment.

Developing Cross-Border Blockchain Financial Transactions under the Belt and Road Initiative

Yaolin Zhang

Abstract This article sets out a regulatory framework that facilitates blockchain cross-border financial transactions and examines how this framework can be implemented in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). With increasing globalization and international trade, cross-border financial transactions are set to grow rapidly, especially across the Eurasian region.1 There are currently many challenges facing such transactions, from slow payment systems and different technical standards to varying legal and compliance systems.2 These challenges may be redressed by blockchain, which offers an efficient solution to the current mechanisms adopted in cross-border financial transactions. Currently, there are many experimental initiatives that seek to implement this technology to multiple fields, including remittances, clearance, and settlements.3 However, few researchers have considered in detail how this technology should be regulated in the BRI context. This article will be one of the first in-depth analyses of how laws and regulations can be applied to facilitate cross-border blockchain payments in the BRI context.

Bitcoin exchange rate prediction using Twitter and Google Trends

Vanja Ivljanin

Blockchain Technology and Simulation Case Analysis to Construct a Big Data Platform for Urban Intelligent Transportation

Yan Gong, Jin-hua Liao

The traditional architecture of an urban intelligent-transportation data network has a hierarchical distribution. In this architecture, organizations independently manage and upload data, thereby making data sharing difficult to achieve. To solve this problem, a big data platform of urban intelligent transportation was built in this paper by using blockchain technology. In this platform, block data are used as the core, thereby removing the centralized data management of each organization. This method also completely changes the modes of data acquisition, processing, analysis, and storage and fully realizes platformbased large data sharing, decentralization, and distributed computing of the multisource system of urban intelligent transportation. The big data platform of urban intelligent transportation based on blockchain technology should also solve several key problems, including the unification of data from different sources, the unified supervision and operation of data, and the compatibility with other advanced technologies. To solve these problems, the key technologies for large data platforms were evaluated from a technical perspective. These technologies include the unified technology of each node, the supervision and operation of multitechnology sharing, and the technological compatibility with vehicle networking and vehicle–road collaboration. By taking the problem of traffic flow data loss in road networks under haze as a simulation case scenario, the application of block chain technology was described. By taking some road networks in Beijing as examples, the simulation results show that under the traditional intelligent transportation data network framework, given the limitations of equipment installation layouts and subordinate management organizations, the coverage of road networks for data acquisition is greatly affected by the objective environment, which may lead to data loss. The data acquisition system should also run independently, thereby preventing data sharing at the bottom of the network. The big data platform architecture of urban intelligent transportation based on blockchain technology addresses the limitations of various organizations, realizes data sharing in urban intelligent transportation, and solves the data loss problem under the traditional network architecture.

Recognition of Blockchain-based Multisignature E-Awards

Alexandre Santos

With blockchain technology, information is recorded in a permanent distributed ledger that is maintained by multiple computers in a peer-to-peer network. There is no central authority that can alter records or change network consensus rules. Such technology could be utilized for voting, title transfers, issuance of company shares, document notarization, but currently, the most popular use-case are virtual currencies. An interesting feature that some virtual currencies have is a multisignature (multisig) protocol that requires the electronic signatures from more than one private key to initiate a transfer of funds. Raw data of a multisig transaction may be recognized as an arbitral award under the New York Convention, where the law of England is the lex arbitri and parties have opted-out of a reasoned award.

Secure Electronic Ticketing System based on Consortium Blockchain

Xuelian Li, Jie Niu, Juntao Gao, Yue Han

In electronic ticketing system, the malicious behavior of scalpers damages the customer's interest and disturbs the normal order of market. In order to solve the problem of scalpers, we took two steps. Firstly, we established the electronic ticketing system based on the consortium blockchain (CB-ETS). By establishing CB-ETS, we can make the ticketing market develop better in a controlled environment and be managed by the members in the consortium blockchain. Secondly, we put forward a kind of taxation mechanism for suppressing scalpers based on CB-ETS. Together with the regulatory mechanism, our scheme can effectively reduce the scalpers' profits and further inhibit scalpers. Through the above two steps, the scheme can effectively resist the malicious behavior of scalpers. Among them, in the process of transferring tickets, we optimized the transfer mechanism to achieve a win-win situation. Finally, we analyzed the security and efficiency of our scheme. Our scheme realizes the anonymity through the mixed currency protocol based on ring signature and guarantees the unforgeability of tickets by multi-signature in the process of modifying the invalidity of tickets. It also could resist to Dos attacks and Double-Spending attacks. The efficiency analysis shows that our scheme is significantly superior to relevant works.

An application of blockchain smart contracts and IoT in logistics

Leonor Maria Cabrita Augusto

Over the last few years, interest has emerged in blockchain, a decentralized ledger technology (DLT) created for use in cryptocurrencies, but with a great potential to be used in other application domains. One of them is supply chain management, tracking and tracing, which are key processes to the logistics industry, made difficult due to the lack of standards or trust between actors, miscommunication, fraud and bureaucratic delays, among other issues. In order to overcome some of these challenges, the solution presented in this dissertation proposes a blockchain system application created with Ethereum smart contracts technology. Its main purpose is to be used in supply chain and logistics for the tracking and tracing products, where the storage of important data is done and verified in a trustworthy, decentralized system. The technical solution presented here implements methods for tracking, certification, quality control and authentication, and integrates the communication of blockchain with IoT devices, which play an important role in monitoring products and automating these processes. This approach is validated by the development of a smart contract system and two browser-based applications to interact with it. The first application allows users to access and view their product’s tracking data, while the second bridges the communication between an Arduino UNO microcontroller collecting temperature readings and our smart contract system. The work presented here highlights the benefits of these technologies applied to logistics and validates the feasibility of this approach, ultimately giving insight into the capabilities, qualities, but also of the limitations a system like this can have.

Research on Development Method of Application System based on Blockchain

Rong Wang

The blockchain was first used as the underlying “book“ recording technology for bitcoin, which originated in 2009. After several years of development and improvement, it has gradually become a new type of distributed, decentralized, and trusted technology solution. Especially in the past two years, the blockchain has gradually separated from Bitcoin, and has become a hot spot for technological innovation. It has created a new data distributed storage technology, which has guided changes in system and programming concepts and may subvert the present. The organizational model of the business community. The characteristics of the blockchain are analyzed from the technical and application levels, and the classification of the blockchain is given. The design requirements of the blockchain are mined, and the application requirements of the blockchain consistency and scalability are analyzed in depth. The application system development method of blockchain and blockchain modeling are studied. The double-chain design model of account blockchain (abbreviated as ABC) and trading blockchain (TBC) is proposed. The contract is deeply analyzed, and the application principle of parallel execution model of chain code is put forward. Finally, the application technology of blockchain is summarized and forecasted.

The Importance of Cross-Border Regulatory Cooperation in an Era of Digital Trade

Usman Ahmed

Abstract Technology is transforming global trade. The global trading system, however, has struggled to keep up with changes in technology. One of the major challenges for the trading system is that the issues raised by digitally enabled commerce are largely regulatory in nature. The issues that are at the forefront of digital trade increasingly relate to citizens’ most fundamental interactions, including speech, finance, energy, and transportation. This paper argues that resolving these international regulatory issues will require reforming the approach that has been taken to global trade negotiations. International discussions around the most challenging issues in the digital economy ought to move away from the ‘horse-trading’ nature of traditional trade negotiations and towards a strategy focused on regulatory cooperation. Failure to achieve regulatory cooperation could further fragment digital services based upon national borders. The Internet has the potential to positively impact the global economy precisely because it is global, decentralized, and bottom-up in nature. International policymaking through regulatory cooperation can maintain those principles, while protecting fundamental national concerns such as stability, privacy, and security.

Framework design and application prospect of agricultural product information blockchain

L. Hao

Agriculture of China is a typical agricultural system of small producer and large market. Producers are too scattered. Agricultural foundation remains weak in the vast rural areas, especially poverty-stricken areas. All of the above have built up a hedge for the high input of information industry and been a serious impediment to agricultural informationalization. As the underlying technology of electronic tokens, blockchain has become the current research hotspot, and been applied in finance, logistics, electronic commerce, information traceability and so on. Blockchain is a distributed storage and computation system, which is decentralized, so it is highly compatible with the distributed economic system. It will be a comprehensive solution to the agricultural status that is "scattered, small and weak". The book China Blockchain Technology and Application Development Whitepaper 2016 gives guidance suggestions for the application of blockchain in different industries including agriculture. This article is proposed by combining the specific status of Chinese agriculture and the technical characteristics of the block chain. Blockchain will play a very important rule in information gathering, resource integrating, profits sharing and backtracking information. Framework of blockchain for agricultural product with 7 levels of information gathering layer, data layer, network layer, consensus layer, excitation layer, contract layer and application layer was designed based on generalized blockchain according to actual situation of agriculture in China. The function of information gathering layer and data layer weve used to storage encrypted information that is acquired by IoT node in a distributed way. The Network layer was designed with a semi-distributed topological structure based on the original Peer-to-Peer distributed network structure in the blockchain by adding the supper notes. In the consensus layer, the DPOS was implied install of POW, therefore, there is no need for intensive computing. Due to the use of smart contact in the contract layer, transactions can be completed automatically in the absence of intermediaries. Furthermore, members of the Blockchain Union can also get repay by participating in the consensus with the smart contracts. The application layer was designed to provide the interface for application of government, bank, enterprise, producer and consumers. This framework can provide flexible mechanism of distributed storage, complete information consensus system, reliable information tamper-proof function and practical incentive reward measures. Subsequently, the above functions have been explained in the agricultural products quality safety traceability and application for the agricultural product market information transparency in more detail. However, the application of block chain in the field of agriculture is still in the stage of exploration, the technology is far from mature, and still need to be perfected in the process of application gradually.
