DEVELOPMENT OF A BLOCKCHAIN-BASED ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM FOR MANAGING MULTIPLE ELECTIONS

ASEGUNLOLUWA E. BABALOLA, DAVID O. ILESANMI, PREYE ADEOLA

Electronic voting can improve the speed of ballot processing and result generation, but conventional systems often depend on centrally controlled infrastructure that may create concerns relating to record alteration, transparency and administrative control. This study presents the development of a blockchain based electronic voting prototype that integrates election creation, candidate management, voter address authorization, ballot submission and result retrieval within a web application. The system adopts an Ethereum based architecture comprising a Next.js user interface, Web3 communication, MetaMask wallet connection, Solidity smart contracts and a local blockchain environment provided by Ganache. A factory smart contract is used to create separate election contracts, enabling each election to maintain its own candidates, authorized voter addresses, election status and vote totals. Before a ballot is accepted, the relevant election contract verifies that the election is active, that the submitting address is authorized and that the address has not previously voted. The developed prototype provides interfaces for election creation, voting and result presentation, demonstrating the integration of the web application with the smart contract and blockchain components. The study provides a basis for the independent management of multiple elections through separate smart contract instances.

Kajian Literatur: Rollups Sebagai Solusi Skalabilitas Ethereum dari Layer 1 ke Layer 2

Yudhistira Nanda Kumala, Rizky Parlika, Hendra Maulana

Using IPFS for Automatic Digital Intellectual Property Registration in Web3 Platforms

Yusuf Tojiri, Maulana Arif Komara, Alfri Adiwijaya, Nasrul Hidayat · 6 authors

This study proposes an IPFS-based system for automatic digital intellectual property registration within Web3 platform environments. The rapid development of digital technology has encouraged the transformation of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection from manual systems to more secure and efficient digital mechanisms. However, current IPR registration processes remain centralized, slow, and vulnerable to data tampering. Based on this issue, this study aims to design and test an automatic IPR registration system using the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) as a decentralized storage solution. This research employs a software engineering method with a prototyping approach that includes the design of a user interface, integration of the IPFS API, implementation of an automatic hash-generation system, metadata storage in a database, and issuance of digital certificates. Testing results show that the system can automatically register digital works, generate unique and consistent file hashes, upload files to IPFS with an average upload time of less than two seconds, and provide global accessibility through a distributed network. In addition, the system is capable of validating the authenticity of a work by matching the hash and metadata listed in the digital certificate. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of IPFS in digital IPR registration systems is effective in enhancing security, efficiency, and transparency, although further development is required in relation to integration with national legal frameworks and formal legal recognition.

Researching Zero-Knowledge Proof in Blockchain Ecosystems for Enhanced Voting Transparency in Catalyst Voting Process—A Potential Application [v3]

Edet Ekpenyong, Ubio Obu, Godspower Emmanuel Achi, Clement Umoh · 6 authors

In blockchain ecosystems, maintaining transparency and privacy has become an ethical dilemma. This is because, while certain specific information of the user is shared to ensure transparency of transactions across networks, such information could be detrimental to the user, as there is a possibility of it being tampered with. For instance, in the Catalyst voting process in Cardano, users can still see the amount of ADA tokens being held by other users, which can influence their voting options, especially when large ADA holders vote in support of certain ideas or proposals. To discourage such challenges as voter manipulation and vote buying, this study proposed the implementation of zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) in blockchain ecosystems to enhance the transparency of the catalyst voting process and enhance efficiency and speed of result release. Using survey questionnaire and a multivocal literature review, this study was able to proof that ZKP cannot only be applied in the catalyst voting process to enhance its transparency, but also addressed potential challenges to its applications such as scalability, encourage trust and fairness of the voting system, and improve voter participation due to its user-friendliness. Mathematical models emphasize scaled voting as optimal for balancing inclusion and plutocratic control.

Secure Online Voting Protocol With Blind Signatures And Identity Verification

Kenneth Richard Dike, Ugbari Augustine, Martha Ozohu Musa

Delays and security remain major issues in traditional manual voting, while in the emerging electronic voting, trust and privacy remain issues in its adoption. This research presents the design and development of a secure electronic voting protocol that combines biometric verification of a standard identity with cryptography to preserve election integrity. This research follows the Design Science Research Methodology, producing the protocol as an artefact, beginning with quick work on it and iteratively improving it during development. The proposed architecture uses a combined National Identity verification and Liveness detection procedure for user authentication, ensuring voter uniqueness and preventing impersonation. It also integrates the RSA blind signature protocol to prevent direct linking of votes to their voters. It uses Paillier encryption to safeguard votes both in transit and at rest, and this encryption scheme has a homomorphic property that enables aggregation of encrypted votes and decryption of the final tally. It uses the SHA-256 cryptographic hashing algorithm, the HMAC authentication technique and the AES-GCM encryption to secure the integrity of data. It also uses zero-knowledge proofs to demonstrate the correctness of encrypted votes and decrypted tallies. Testing showed that it prevented a photo spoofing attempt and also blocked authentication using a person’s mother’s identity data. Also, when the blinded vote is compared with the unblinded, via local logs on the development system, there is no direct link. The whole system shows a secure electronic voting protocol that is easy to use and can be trusted.

Implementation Smart Contract on E-Voting System for Secure and Transparent Student Election

Hussain Abdillah Tugas Kelarno, Widi Widayat

Traditional paper-based voting system for student organization leaders election has issues related to security, transparency, and trust. This research addressed these issues by implementing a blockchain on e-voting system utilizing smart contracts to ensure the security and transparency of the voting process. The system was developed using the agile software development life cycle (SDLC) methodology and was tested using black-box and system usability scale (SUS) method to evaluate its functionality and usability. Security testing was conducted through unit testing on the smart contract and block verification within the Sepolia network. The results showed that the decentralized e-voting system could prevent vote manipulation and detecting duplicate voters, as evidenced by the unit testing of the smart contract, which confirmed that recorded votes could not be manipulated and attempts to submit multiple votes were detected and rejected. Meanwhile, system transparency was demonstrated through direct verification using a block explorer, showing that the entire voting process and the smart contract code were publicly accessible and transparent. The system was successfully simulated on a small scale within a student organization, and usability testing using the SUS method was conducted with 30 respondents. The test resulted in a score of 72 points, indicating that the system was in the good category and was well accepted by users. Therefore, the decentralized approach in this e-voting system has been proven to enhance transparency and overcome the problems of security issues in the voting process.

A Smart Contract-Driven Blockchain Architecture for Secure Digital Voting

Smit Pingale

In democratic systems, secure and transparent voting mechanisms are essential to maintain public trust and electoral integrity. Traditional paper-based and centralized electronic voting systems often face challenges such as limited transparency, risk of data manipulation, and dependence on centralized authorities. To address these issues, this project proposes a decentralized blockchain-based voting system designed to enhance security, transparency, and reliability. The system is developed on the Ethereum blockchain, where each vote is recorded as an immutable transaction to prevent tampering or duplication. Smart contracts written in Solidity automate essential election functions including voter registration, vote validation, and result computation. A web-based interface built using React.js and Web3.js enables secure interaction with the blockchain, while wallet-based authentication ensures that each authorized user can cast only one vote The system is implemented and tested in a controlled environment to evaluate performance, accuracy, and resistance to double voting.

BLOCKCHAIN FOR BHARAT: SECURE & IMMUTABLE NRI VOTING SYSTEM

Disha Pardeshi, Sujata Sathe, Viha Bakshi, Ananya Mary Sebastian

AbstractThe growing need for secure and transparent electoral systems highlights the challenges faced by Non-Resident Indian (NRI) voters. Current rules requiring physical presence at polling stations limit participation, despite rising registrations. In our proposed blockchain-based voting framework, votes are transmitted through a secure virtual private network (VPN) and authenticated at the Election Commission of India (ECI) gateway node. After authentication, the votes are verified across multiple blockchain nodes using a consensus mechanism. Once validation is completed, the votes are permanently recorded in the distributed ledger, ensuring that they cannot be altered or removed. Smart contracts are employed to automate the vote-counting process, reducing manual intervention and minimizing the possibility of human error. The final election results are then made available through the ECI dashboard, enabling transparency and easy verification by authorized stakeholders. The proposed framework aims to improve accessibility for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) voters by enabling secure remote participation while preserving voter anonymity. By strengthening trust in the electoral system and encouraging wider participation, the solution supports improved electoral integrity. Overall, the integration of blockchain technology into the voting process contributes toward building a more transparent, secure, and inclusive democratic system in India. Keywords: Blockchain, NRI Voting, Distributed Ledger, Electoral Integrity, Consensus Mechanism, Immutability, Voter Anonymity.

Perbandingan Static Analysis dan Dynamic Analysis untuk Deteksi Kerentanan Smart Contract Solidity

Ridwan Yusuf, Andreas Perdana, Febri Sugandi, Untoro Apsiswanto

Application of Non-Fungible Tokens and ERC-1155 Algorithm in Digital Certificate Verification Process

Azkaa Rahiila Hardi, Safitri Jaya

Digital certificate forgery remains a real problem in education and employment because traditional verification processes rely on centralized databases, are vulnerable to manipulation, and often take a long time. This study designs and implements a blockchain-based digital certificate verification system that models certificates as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) using the ERC-1155 standard on the Manta Pacific Layer 2 network and incorporates a Soulbound Token (SBT) mechanism to ensure that certificates cannot be transferred. The research adopts a prototyping method through eight stages, starting from architecture design and prototype development to the integration of ERC-1155 smart contracts with IPFS and wallets, as well as testing of minting functions, QR code-based verification, and rejection of asset transfers. The results demonstrate successful on-chain certificate issuance with significantly reduced transaction costs compared to ERC-721-based certificates on Layer 1 networks reported in previous studies, while maintaining a decentralized audit trail. The SBT implementation successfully rejects every attempt to transfer certificates to other wallets, thereby preventing the sale or illicit transfer of credential ownership. These findings indicate that the combination of ERC-1155, SBT, and IPFS on a Layer 2 network has strong potential as an efficient, secure, and practically adoptable digital certificate verification model for educational institutions.

The system is designed to manage ticket purchase queues transparently and securely, using smart contracts written in the Solidity programming language and the Ionic UI framework. In addition, the system is connected with MetaMask as a transaction wallet, allowing users to purchase tickets directly and securely. Ganache serves as a testing environment for replenishing wallet balances without involving real transactions. The First In First Out (FIFO) approach is used to manage the transaction queue, with the first purchased ticket being processed first by the administrator. The administrator accepts each transaction, which is then confirmed by MetaMask. When the transaction is confirmed, the system automatically updates the ticket status. The implementation results show that this system effectively optimizes ticket transaction management transparently and securely. This work also makes a significant contribution to the application of blockchain technology for better management of online ticket purchasing systems, as well as minimizing the possibility of transaction errors and fraud.

This research studies implementation of decentralized applications (DApps) that are combined with blockchain technology and IPFS for storing patient medical data. The goal of this research is to increase the security, transparency, and access control of stored medical data to make sure only legitimate users can access the data. The proposed system uses smart contracts on the Ethereum network to handle user rights of access (doctors, patients, and admins) and ensure data integrity through the blockchain immutability feature. Patient medical records are retained in IPFS and traced using the Content Identifier (CID). Implementation outcome reveals that the system can safely process medical information, keeping patients in full control of their information, and restricting data access only to scheduled time. This system also shows the potential of blockchain and IPFS technology-based applications in achieving a more efficient health ecosystem focused on safeguarding people's data.
