Blockchain-Enabled City Information Modeling Framework for Urban Asset Management

Oluwatoyin Lawal, Nawari O. Nawari

Object-based modeling has become an integral and more preferred design approach as against two-dimensional (2D) design representation. This is evident in the increased use of building information modeling (BIM) for building design and city information modeling (CIM) for city planning and development. However, the development and management of object-based city models are often siloed and do not coexist in a virtual environment. Urban infrastructure is often designed in isolation, yet it forms part of an integrated network of assets in real life. Blockchain is one of several technologies that has been integrated with BIM because of its transparent and tamper-proof features. This research proposes a framework for the lifecycle management of buildings and other urban assets by integrating blockchain technology (BCT) into a heterogenous CIM of multiowned assets using a nested, multilevel data environment. First, the BIM is synchronized into a GIS scene for geospecificity, then the BIM metadata is written onto a blockchain protocol distributing the model information across a network of project collaborators using a common data environment (CDE). The resultant CIM is then shared through an outer layered city level CDE. Use case scenarios are presented to validate the functionality of the proposed approach, and research limitations are discussed. The framework enables the critical interproject or interasset communication which is otherwise impossible in traditional approaches where individual assets are designed as stand-alone models.

Key technologies for online visualization of large-scale underground space

Xiaoju Liu

The corresponding technologies for sharing information and 3Dinteraction by Web3 D were described briefly. An efficient scene management scheme for real-time visualization of a large-scale underground scene was proposed to meet its demands for webpage visualization.Firstly, the raw data from the underground scene were preprocessed in lightweight, and a shell structure-aware scene analysis algorithm was employed for constructing a scene management structure. Then, some strategies were put forward according to the characteristics of the underground scene data, and those are a SOI-ExteriorShell strategy based on Sector Of Interest(SOI)management for outdoor scenes and a Portal-InteriorShell strategy supporting progressive loading for indoor ones. With the switch between indoor and outdoor scenes, the method dynamically chooses the corresponding strategy and makes it possible to roam in the large-scale underground scene online. From the final experiment,it concludes that the proposed method efficiently culls unnecessary scenes in a greatly large extent and is capable of meeting the requirements for real-time visualization of the large-scale underground scene over Internet. As the webpage has an advantage of cross-platform,the system supports users to roamand control the large-scale underground scene under cross-platform.

Web-oriented 3D model generation and processing technology

Hu Zheng

The introduction of Web GL standards accelerated the arrival of the Web3 D era. The generation and processing of3 D model is the core in Web3D project. On the basis of the three.js engine, the data drive modeling, importing and processing of static 3D model, and importing and analysis of dynamic 3D model in the Web environment are introduced. The experimental results show that the Web3 D technology based on Web GL platform and three.js engine can not only effectively achieve the data visualization and the database-oriented parametric modeling, but also has compatibleness with most of the industrial 3D models and support the whole Web3 D project.

Web3D Management Information System for Road Achive Based on MVCPF Plug-in Framework

Da Cheng

To realize the digitalization and visualization of road achives, this paper presents the MVCPF plug-in framework which is based on MVC Design Pattern and modularization programming method.According to the single responsibility principle, application is divided into some plug-in modules which follow MVC mode.Modules that stand apart from each other can be integrated as a whole by using message response and data share of MVC.Based of that,R-Trees is used to create a spatial index for the data, and achieve an efficient management of huge amounts of data, achieve in quick query of information in 3Dscene;road web3 Darchives MIS is designed out which has the characteristics of a clear structure, small size, scalability, etc. It is easy to be published, updated and expanded. The huge road 3Dscene,which contains terrain, road and attached facility models, can be transported and rendered as fast as possible. In addition, the achive information can be obtained realtimely in the web3 Dscene.
