This chapter synthesizes practitioner and academic literature on LGBTQ organizing in the pracademic tradition. It analyzes the ways that advocates, activists and allies ‘queer it up’ and harness digiqueer resistance through participatory and policy advocacy against challenges to diverse LGBTQ expression. This includes new rituals of LGBTQ organizing through hashtag activism, crowdfunding advocacy, philanthropy through non-fungible tokens, and the continued commodification of LGBTQ identity through ecommerce for advocacy and allyship. The chapter considers where LGBTQ networked expression sits within the digital organizing landscape. On one level, political insecurity through the ‘hate feedback loop’ keeps LGBTQ organizers in the policy ‘trenches’ as they maintain the fight for basic relationship, expression and conduct rights that the general public might take for granted. On another level, increased recognition of LGBTQ expression through popular culture, relationship rights such as same-sex marriage, and social networks sees a related expansion of the social imagination of homosexuality as identity rather than conduct across health and welfare, religion, securitization, markets, nationalism, a sense of belonging, and other identifiers.
In France, the local planning of sports facilities originates from successive public policies carried out at various territorial levels, from national to local. Changes in the stock of sports facilities in four towns, including low-income areas, are analyzed based on the different national facilities plans of the 1960s, the effects of decentralization since the 1980s, and the evolution of urban policies since the 1990s. The uneven impact of these various periods of public policies can be observed at a local level. In addition, the authors study the different approaches to financing adopted by municipalities with distinct profiles but with characteristics which can be transposed to medium-sized towns. While it is usually assumed that national policies in this field have a homogeneous impact nationwide, a cartographic study that accounts for the local context clearly shows the opposite. This study evidences the fact that national policies can have meaningful results only when there is considerable financial assistance provided and when the local authorities are involved. Municipalities remain key actors in the development of infrastructures, which is why there are so many discrepancies between them.
The article deals with a teaching unit aimed at promoting algebra \nas a tool for proving. The unit was carried out in two classes (Grade 7 in Italy, \nGrade 8 in France). The aim is to show how an analytical tool (the notion of \nrational behavior) has evolved through being tested in the post hoc analysis of \ntwo cycles of experimentation, and how its use put in question our first \napproach to the mathematical content at stake (algebra and proof). Besides \ntheoretical developments, we present some advances on the pragmatic level.
Trends of Cultural Administration in Western Europe. In the last three decades, the ways and means of public intervention in cultural affairs have been multiplied and diversified following variable patterns in different countries. There has been an evolution in the levels of public intervention, which differ according to decentralization and federalism. There has also been an evolution of the means of intervention, because governments use new financing practices. Nowadays a new actor is emerging on the scene of cultural policy : the European Community.
