The evolution of autonomous systems is reverberating through all industry sectors. Autonomous Industrial Systems represent the evolution of the current “Automated Industry,” towards systems that operate independently, supported by continuous edge decision making and learning. Beyond control, orchestration of complex industrial-level processes can enable large-scale decision making based on a continuous market and regulations signals: without a centralized operator, such processes can operate independently. Autonomy also extends to “Smart Infrastructures” that enable the smart detection and connectivity of constituents and their connections to support the edge processing and decentralized decision making. The self-organization characteristics of these systems shall drive the market towards more the large-scale deployment of both connecting infrastructures and industry. The cross-regulatory nature of these systems requires an orchestration approach for the provision of interdependent services from numerous operators along a supply chain. Therefore, the direction of future development lies in the growing autonomy of the economy and the evolving edge-driven digital connection of smart infrastructures, service production, and regulation of the resources and ecosystem on which the digital representation relies.

Digital Wonderland in Web3

As the fashion industry adapts to the emergence of web3 and the Metaverse there is uncertainty in brand-consumer interactions. In the face of limited literature, a qualitative netnographic approach was adopted to explore the unique dynamics of the Gucci brand community on Discord, a fashion brand web3 community, over three weeks. Results indicate a shift away from traditional online brand communities towards a new community relationship. A dual function emerges where members relate to the brands’ identities while simultaneously valuing community dynamics. As a result, these communities become hubs of mutual support with a unique collective identity intertwined with the brand’s personality. The Gucci community emerges as a digital utopia reflecting aspirations for a better future, where members engage in Community Integrated Brand Engagement (CIBE), creatively interacting with the brand through the community’s social structure. This research emphasises the potential of web3 brand communities, providing insights for stakeholders in research, the fashion industry, and web3 developers.

Zusammenfassung Auf dem Weg zu einer kreislauffähigen Wertschöpfung nimmt die lückenlose Dokumentation von Produktionsketten eine elementare Rolle ein: Sie erlaubt es, eingesetzte Ressourcen und Schritte im Wertschöpfungsprozess nachzuvollziehen und nachhaltigkeitsbezogene Angaben überprüfbar und somit vermarktbar zu machen. In diesem Kontext wird immer wieder über die Blockchain-Technologie diskutiert. Neben den Chancen, die eine Blockchain für eine verifizierbare Dokumentation und Interaktionen über Organisationsgrenzen hinweg bietet, werden in diesem Beitrag die Herausforderungen ihrer Nutzung aufgezeigt. Dabei wird auch auf komplementäre Technologien, insbesondere kryptographische Ansätze für digitales Identitätsmanagement und Zero-Knowledge Proofs, eingegangen und gezeigt, wie diese zur Bewältigung der Herausforderungen genutzt werden können.

The Possibility of Using Consumer BlockchainBased Tokens to Collect Loyalty Points by Airdrops

Loyalty points can be used to encourage customers to make new purchases and play an important role in maintaining the existing customer base. In essence, this is a discount system, using which consumers can receive reward points after shopping or purchasing certain products. Loyalty points are a virtual currency that can be earned through certain shopping activities. According to a modern approach, loyalty points could also be exchanged for tokens based on blockchain technology. Tokens can be customized according to business needs, thus increasing the effectiveness of marketing. Since the tokens are created in the blockchain network, they are unforgeable, thus excluding the possibility of fraud or abuse. The purpose of the research is to examine whether “traditional” loyalty points can be transferred to modern NFT-based tokens, thereby conveying uniqueness and unforgeability to consumers. As part of the practical implementation, the smart contract will be written using NFT (Non-Fungible Token) elements and the ERC 721 standard. However, to deliver consumer NFTs to their target, a smart contract-based airdrop-sending solution is also needed, which will be written in the research. On the company side, consumer NFTs are stored in an Ethereum-based sidechain before sending. As a further part of the practical implementation, a blockchain called PBTN (Private Blockchain Token Network) will be created by creating its genesis block. Until now, such a joint DAO-NFT(Decentralized Autonomous Organization) solution has not yet been implemented. The token loyalty point-based reward created in the crypto space is certainly a novelty these days.
