Transformation of BPMN business process model will be a very important topic in the future of the Hyperledger Fabric blockchain environment. Machine transformation can increase the quality of transformation and thus reduce errors. The research paper first describes BPMN and the Hyperledger Fabric environment, what smart contracts are and why they are so important. In the second part, the raw transformation model is described, where the inputs for the transformations are BPMN and the metadata file, and the result is a smart contract written in Java that can be imported into the Hyperledger Fabric environment.
Within blockchain technology lies the potential to fundamentally change the financial industry. Above all, smart contracts, i.e. digital contracts that automatically monitor specified rules and can independently carry out defined actions when a certain event occurs, are able to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness in many standardized processes and products in the future. Therefore, this article examines some possible fields of application of smart contracts in the financial sector.
Purpose Following the call for strengthening the third pillar of knowledge in entrepreneurship as well as work-applied management contexts constituted by pragmatic design principles, we present a case study on an insurtech for insurance firms specialized in smart contract insurance solutions such as flight delay or ski resort insurance. Design/methodology/approach Design science. Findings This not only serves as a pointer for how insurances may master their digital transformation while remaining competitive. But moreover, on the meta level, we find that the adoption of entrepreneurial design principles by the students, whose experiential project represents our case study, does not necessarily require continuous support or foundational knowledge to be delivered beforehand. However, for a deeper or more holistic assessment of the case sketched in their project, it makes sense to introduce them to newer developments such as the simple, practical framework of the Entrepreneur's Question Index. Originality/value Innovative teaching method on innovative topics.

Distributed ledger technologies (DLT) enable new forms of business collaboration while the combination with smart contracts allows for an automation of business and collaboration processes. The immutability of DLT secures the execution of business processes. Hence, any process automation or resource management activities are tamper-proof. Yet, a widespread use can only takeoff, if business process experts can directly use this new form of technology, since business process experts are not necessarily programming experts. Thus, we argue for a high-level business process modeling to allow an application-oriented formulation of business collaboration. Hence it is important to research the instantiation and execution of business processes on DLTs, which are formulated in conventional notations.
The information systems of decentralized organizations are now networked as components of a global information system. Organizations, individuals and software act autonomously and are at the same time cooperatively involved in the creation of services. The planning and execution of the necessary interactions in the form of processes are not under the control of individuals. For the development and execution of processes under decentralized coordination, this work proposes an approach based on blockchain technologies. This addresses, on the one hand, the design of decentralized organizations and, on the other hand, the coordination of development that is distributed within such systems and is not centrally controlled. The thesis describes the decentralization and the model-based development of process-oriented systems from an organizational theory perspective. The focus is then on decentralized blockchain systems as development and execution platforms, with which the binding nature and integrity of transactions between a priori unknown nodes of a network can be guaranteed. The development and execution of processes are implemented on this basis using a model-based approach. This is established by an architectural framework for conceptual modeling, for cooperative modeling and for the tracking of instances. The conceptual modeling of networks, processes and instances makes use of the semantic object model (SOM) in order to map the task level of decentralized organizations to a decentralized task management level. The cooperative modeling and the tracking of instances use technologies for distributed version management in connection with smart contracts of the blockchain system Ethereum. The demonstration of the applicability of the approach based on a case study and a software implementation concludes the work.
This thesis aims to add knowledge that contributes to answering the question of how digital transformation technologies can contribute to increasing customer value in logistics and supply chain management (L&SCM), and how manufacturing companies can mindfully use them. The output of the thesis is an architectural framework that proposes performance components, approaches and methodologies that can help in capturing this customer value. To build the basis for such a framework, this research first deduces and presents the underlying definition of digital transformation and describes its potential for, as well as current barriers for its application in, L&SCM. The study uses a systematic literature review to identify nine underlying digital transformation technology bundles. These are: auto-identification technologies; information and communication technologies; the cloud; cyber physical systems; analytics; distributed ledger; automation technologies; augmented and virtual reality; and additive manufacturing. These technologies served as inputs for a nominal group technique workshop aiming to conceptualize the dimensions of customer value based on the technologies. The derived dimensions are information disclosure, time, product/production, service/assistance, quality, choice options, and planning. Based on these findings, this thesis presents an impact assessment for customer-based L&SCM performance. The three-plus-one customer value propositions are availability, servitization, co-creation, and cognition as enhancement. Expert interviews provide the data for the architectural framework for capturing customer value based on digital transformation technologies in L&SCM. The six dimensions covered are the customer value proposition; the value portfolio; scope of collaboration; human resource management and organization; performance management; as well as the (re-)adjusting value assessment. The main scientific contribution lies in conceptualizing the customer value for L&SCM based on digital transformation technologies whereas the architectural framework constitutes the main practical contributions.

Abstract Blockchains, also known as “distributed ledger technologies” (DLT) are perhaps the emerging innovation that, in the years leading up to and including 2019, is raising the highest expectations for HRM in the 4.0 business environment. In essence, a blockchain is a very specific type of database, with characteristics that made it the ideal application for cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Within the context of digital- or e-HRM, there is potential to improve human resource management (HRM) processes using blockchains for employment screening, credential and educational verification, worker contracts and payments, among others, notwithstanding questions about its efficiency vis-à-vis conventional alternatives (Maurer, 2018; Zielinski, 2018). The research questions examined in this chapter include the following: What are the main characteristics of blockchains? Will they be adopted in a widespread form, specifically by HRM departments? Constructs from Diffusion of Innovations (DOI) theory (Rogers, 2003) are used to inform the Human Resources scholarly and practitioner communities; this robust theory may help companies allocate resources (e.g., budgets, personnel, managerial time, etc.) in an evidence-informed manner. As of this writing, very few blockchain applications, such as credential verification and incident reporting, seem to hold a strong potential for adoption.
