"Cryptocurrencies have become the buzzword among society, especially after some prominent companies such as Wikipedia, Microsoft and Amazon accept the use of cryptocurrencies. Nonetheless, accounting treatment of cryptocurrencies appears to be a challenging area for standard setters, financial statement preparers, and also users. This is mainly because elements of cryptocurrency do not explicitly fall under any existing accounting standards. The fact that cryptocurrencies are held for different business models and intentions may affect how it should be treated under accounting standards. Hence, this research aimed to examine factors that affect the accounting treatment of cryptocurrencies in Malaysia. Different factors were examined including the function of cryptocurrencies, conceptual framework of financial reporting and the legal status of cryptocurrencies. Targeted respondents involved in this research were accountants in Malaysia. Data collected were analysed using SPSS and SmartPLS 3. SPSS was mainly used to analyse the demographics of respondents whereas SmartPLS 3 was used to carry out reflective measurement model and structural model evaluation. The results concluded that all the independent variables which are the functions of cryptocurrencies, conceptual framework of financial reporting, and the legal status of cryptocurrencies have a significant relationship with the accounting treatment of cryptocurrencies. The results of this study provide an insight about factors that standards setters and financial standards should consider when accounting for cryptocurrencies’ transactions in order to provide faithful representation and relevant information. Some limitations and suggestions are included in this research to provide ideas for future researchers to carry out further research. Keywords: Cryptocurrencies, Accounting Treatment"

The application of Blockchain technology has begun to be widely accommodated in industrial and business practitioner environments as a safeguard of transaction security so that now including the education sector, non-business institutions enjoy the use of this technology to support the learning process. Information on the protected Blockchain can be in the form of transactions, assets, identities, and other information packaged in digital form. Information is collected in the form of blocks that are interrelated by using the hash function as cryptographic encryption. This research uses Blockchain for online pocket money top-up transactions for students. The use of a centralized Blockchain is centralized to reduce server procurement costs, but to increase the security of transaction information, modification of each block series is carried out using the AES cryptographic approach. The results showed that the attack by inserting a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) script if you want to know the value of the top-up transaction amount, you must be able to hack the cryptographic process. This is supported by chain validation testing to determine how many block changes have been changed.

AbstractCentralized monitoring of remote networks is hard to implement due to the high cost, lack of experts, and the missing key technologies. The existing researches are unable to provide a secure, centralized monitoring system that satisfies three security aspects, namely: availability, integrity, and confidentiality. Blockchain technology meets those three requirements by providing a reliable reporting and immutable database system. In this paper, we proposed a prototype of a centralized monitoring system that records network statistics and configurations into the blockchain ledger. The method requires the network controller to periodically fetch network information from every network device and submit it as a single blockchain transaction. We compare two kinds of transaction schema, smart-contract based and zero-payment based reporting schemes. The evaluations show that zero-payment transactions only cost 6 % of the smart-contract transactions. The estimation of the monthly cost is 1.19 ether per-device for 10-minutes data sampling. Nevertheless, the proposed method is applicable only for the Proof-of-Authority (PoA) Ethereum networks. It is not feasible for the Ethereum main network that uses Proof-of-Work (PoW) due to the high cost of Ether.

Abstract Over the course of time, electronic voting has evolved as a substitute for paper ballot voting to decrease redundancies and inconsistencies. Due to the many security and privacy vulnerabilities experienced over time, the past results of e-voting in the last three decades indicate that it has not been very successful. All cryptocurrencies are actually based on block chain. Block chain is based on the principle of distribution and decentralization. It is a continuous and continuously growing ledger that holds, in a secure, chronological and immutable way, a permanent record of all the transactions that have taken place. Value in a block chain can be anything. In the case of cryptocurrencies, it takes the meaning of money or currency. While in a game it takes the form of points or score. The value can take the form of a vote or a ballot while e-voting. The blockchain can be used in this article to pass votes between two parties. In our case, the electorate is one party and the candidate who earns the vote is the other. Without having a controlling central authority body, the block chain can be implemented in a more stable manner in mass electoral voting practise. A voting system that uses a more stable, tamper-proof block chain (immutable to voting modifications either by other voters or by any third party) and is cost-effective.

The study aims to elaborate on the Shari’ah issues regarding cryptocurrencies. The research found that overall Shari’ah challenges in studying this unprecedent issue can be confined to Bitcoin since it is the first cryptocurrency with its own protocol and laws, and the later versions of the cryptocurrency started using the protocol of Bitcoin. Bitcoin was distinguished being the only cryptocurrency that is classified as decentralized, whereas the subsequent versions of the currencies, which were introduced as an alternative to Bitcoin, such as Ethereum, were centralized by their issuer. Also, the tokens are merely representing the assets which were collected through it. The overall Shari'ah issues were summarized in terms of its asset and monetary consideration, impact of price fluctuations, decentralization, anonymity, and the mechanism of mining which PoW (Proof-of-Work) and PoS (Proof-of-Stake). This study has concluded on the Shari’ ah permissibility of the PoW system which is used in Bitcoin, and PoS system which is used in Ethereum. The contract is based on Ju’alah contract. As a principle, the study could not conclude the Shari’ah non-permissibility of exchanging, trading or investing in Bitcoin, and similar cryptocurrencies. These cryptocurrencies are subjected to all the guidelines related to exchange of currencies (sarf) and rulings of Riba buyu’ (sale on credit) and Riba duyun (interest on debt). Also, it will be subjected to monetary Zakat rulings. However, dealing with mining groups, electronic platforms, as well as investing in these currencies through various websites, may contain executing agreements and contracts that contain conditions not compliant to Shari’ah. These agreements should be examined in the light of the provisions of the Islamic law. Also, users should be cautious against falling into the net of fraudsters on the Internet. The research recommends to hold-up investing in these recent currencies because of the rapid volatility and to avoid exposing the wealth to high risk.

On a daily basis we deal with documents like educational records, health records, certificates etc. Medical records are still being stored on legacy systems which carries the risk of losing important documents. There are security and privacy concerns regarding the safety of documents on centralized server. To overcome these difficulties, we made a blockchain based record storage web app through which anyone upload their medical records on the blockchain and can access them with a private key. The patient or the user can download and access reports from anywhere and can also manage to share them with his doctor etc. Blockchain is a decentralized, distributed, peer to peer ledger on the internet. Blockchain technology helps to maintain security and reliability without placing any trust in a third party. The use of smart contracts in blockchain helps in making things much easier. This paper examines the record storage system including the technologies involved and the methodologies. The approach used for making an electronic health record storage web app through which we can implement a more broader record storage system that can store and manage numerous types of records.

Blockchain is a public ledger technology to which everyone has access without a central authority having control. This technology typically gets to use registration and smart contract. To make sure there are security and authenticity in the transaction information in blockchain, many researchers are study on consensus algorithm. There is a lot of consensus algorithm are using in blockchain. Determining leading research area and finding the best key of consensus algorithm is the motivation of this study. Thus, this study will investigate how consensus algorithm areas of research can be determined by study on the Proof of Stake (PoS) and Delegated Proof of Stake (DPos). Besides that, this research study about the key parameters that being using in these two algorithms. In addition, after getting the parameters we measure the comparison in terms of their transaction per second, nodes, and block sizes. Furthermore, we conclude the efficiency of these two algorithms in terms of their scalability. Although DPoS performance is expected to be much better than PoS, the impact of parameters can be assessed and analyzed to see and prove results. We hope after this study, can solved the performance and security affected by the application of consensus algorithm used in the blockchain.

Variant blockchain-based solutions were proposed during the last 5 years for education. This paper is the first to discuss these solutions and their usage and benefits. However, there is not yet any solution in the literature that issues or validates a certificate which includes courses from different educational institutes. This paper proposes a novel framework for cross-education blockchain-based solution. It collects participating institutes in one blockchain network. Graduates of this solution can join courses in the institutes that provide the latest and strongest contents. The issued certificate is self-validating for all the courses that are obtained from multiple institutes. It is cryptographically coded and securely stored using the blockchain technology. It can be validated instantaneously through one validation portal independently without contacting its issuing institutes. The saved time and resources are oriented toward enhancing students' services. This framework can be extended to fields that require issuing or validating cross-acquired certificates.
