Electronic Health Record Monitoring System and Data Security Using Blockchain Technology

Bangladesh should have owned a decentralized medical record server. We face a lot of issues, such as doctor’s appointments, report organization in one spot, and report follow-ups. People now bring a large number of papers to the doctor’s chamber. They carry prescriptions, reports, and X-ray files, among other things. It complicates everyone’s life as a result. All of the reports must be reviewed by doctors on a regular basis. It is difficult to read old reports on a regular basis, and patients do not receive the correct medications or treatment. Doctors also find it extremely difficult to comprehend handwritten prescriptions. Data security, authenticity, time management, and other areas of data administration are dramatically improved when blockchain (smart contract) technology is linked with standard database management solutions. Blockchain is a groundbreaking, decentralized technology that protects data from unauthorized access. After smart contracts are implemented, the management will be satisfied with the patients. As a result, maintaining data privacy and accountability in the system is tough. It signifies that the information is only accessible to those who have been authenticated. This study focuses on limiting third-party engagement in medical health data and improving data security. Throughout the process, this will improve accessibility and time efficiency. People will feel safer during the payment procedure, which is the most significant benefit. A smart contract and a peer-to-peer encrypted technology were used. The hacker will not be able to gain access to this system since this document uses an immutable ledger. They will not be able to change any of the data if they gain access to the system. If the items are found to be defective, the transaction will be halted. Transaction security will be a viable option for recasting these problems using cryptographic methodologies. We developed a website where patients and doctors will both benefit because of the use of blockchain technology to ensure the security of medical data. We have different profiles for doctors and patients. In the patient profile, they can create their own account by using a unique address, name, and age. This unique address will be created from the genesis block. The unique address is completely private to the owner, who will remain fully secure in our network. After creating an account, the patient can view the doctors’ list and they can upload their medical reports such as prescriptions and X-rays. All the records uploaded by the patient will be stored on our local server (Ganache). The records are stored as hashed strings of the data. Those files will also have a unique address, and it will be shown in the patient profile. After granting access, the doctors will be able to view their records in the respective doctor’s profile. For accessing the options such as uploading, viewing, or editing the data, Ethereum currency (a fee) will have to be paid in order to complete the request. On the other hand, doctors can enter their profile using their name and unique address. After logging in, they can view their name, unique address, and the list of patients that have granted access to the doctor to view their files. On our website, the front end is handled by JavaScript, ReactJS, HTML, and CSS. The backend is handled by Solidity. Storage is handled by Ganache as the local host. Finally, this paper will show how to ensure that the procedure is as safe as feasible. We are also maintaining transparency and efficiency here.

To address this, various AI techniques can be applied in the blockchain IoT framework, thus providing an efficient information system. In this survey, various works pertaining to the domains which integrate AI, IoT and Blockchain has been explored. Also, this article discusses potential industrial use cases on fusion of blockchain, AI and IoT applications and its challenges.

Changing Trends of Blockchain in IoT: Benefits and Challenges

The domain of Internet of Things which is popularly referred as IoT, is enabling the vision of data driven connected world. Conventional IoT ecosystems which stream data to fog and cloud servers, are incapable of managing the mammoth volumes of data leading to numerous concerns like compromising the security and privacy of data. With huge success of IoT technology, it becomes imperative to offer more intrepidity in future data generating services and applications. Blockchain is one such technology which is designed with the objectives of inherent security through cryptographic techniques. Thus, it provides opportunity to rule out the challenges of IoT. This paper unfolds various drawbacks of IoT which raises concern for data holder and entrepreneurs. Simultaneously robust features of Blockchain are discussed which ensures to fulfill the requirements posed by IoT. As researchers moved on to explore the fusion Blockchain with IoT, few challenges are encountered even with Blockchain. This paper gives a deep insight of benefits and challenges for fusion of blockchain with IoT.

Deep Learning Based Homomorphic Secure Search-Able Encryption for Keyword Search in Blockchain Healthcare System: A Novel Approach to Cryptography

Due to the value and importance of patient health records (PHR), security is the most critical feature of encryption over the Internet. Users that perform keyword searches to gain access to the PHR stored in the database are more susceptible to security risks. Although a blockchain-based healthcare system can guarantee security, present schemes have several flaws. Existing techniques have concentrated exclusively on data storage and have utilized blockchain as a storage database. In this research, we developed a unique deep-learning-based secure search-able blockchain as a distributed database using homomorphic encryption to enable users to securely access data via search. Our suggested study will increasingly include secure key revocation and update policies. An IoT dataset was used in this research to evaluate our suggested access control strategies and compare them to benchmark models. The proposed algorithms are implemented using smart contracts in the hyperledger tool. The suggested strategy is evaluated in comparison to existing ones. Our suggested approach significantly improves security, anonymity, and monitoring of user behavior, resulting in a more efficient blockchain-based IoT system as compared to benchmark models.

CWoT-Share: Context-Based Web of Things Resource Sharing in Blockchain Environment

Web of Things (WoT) resources are not only numerous, but also have a wide range of applications and deployments. The centralized WoT resource sharing mechanism lacks flexibility and scalability, and hence cannot satisfy requirement of distributed resource sharing in large-scale environment. In response to this problem, a trusted and secure mechanism for WoT resources sharing based on context and blockchain (CWoT-Share) was proposed. Firstly, the mechanism can respond quickly to the changes of the application environment by dynamically determining resource access control rules according to the context. Then, the flexible resource charging strategies, which reduced the fees paid by the users who shared more resources and increased the fees paid by users who frequently used resources maliciously, were used to fulfill efficient sharing of WoT resources. Meanwhile, the charging strategies also achieve load balancing by dynamic selection of WoT resources. Finally, the open source blockchain platform Ethereum was used for the simulation and the simulation results show that CWoT-Share can flexibly adapt to the application environment and dynamically adjust strategies of resource access control and resource charging.

The way in which we interact with each other and with the environment has changed.The IoT is experiencing exponential growth in research and industry, but still suffers from privacy and security issues. The integration of blockchain technology with Internet of Things (IoT) has resolved many challenges faced by Internet of Things (IoT) such as decentralization, poor interoperability, privacyand security vulnerabilities. Blockchain when combined with IoT can solve many challenges of IoT systems. This integration will come out to be the better system for the environment in many aspects specially security which is the most important aspect to be considered. Also, the distributed ledger of Blockchain which when used in IoT can resolve many issues like scalability and authenticity. However, the integration of Blockchain technology with IoT originates various challenges like storage capacity and scalability, security, anonymity and data privacy etc. We first introduce Blockchain with Internet of Things (IoT) and key characteristic of this integration. We will also concentrate the issued resolved by blockchain technology in Internet of Things (IoT). The main concern of this paper is to discuss the various challenges of integration of blockchain into IoT.

Blockchain technology has started to fascinate younger generations because it works especially well in the digital world. Blockchain is suitable for internet of things applications. Advancements in IoT have propelled distributed systems. The blockchain concept demands a method for exchanging and storing data that is managed by a decentralized network. The rise of IoT applications is hindered by these obstacles. One option to fix these problems is to use a distributed ledger technology using blockchain technology. This chapter gives a comprehensive overview of blockchain's strengths and weaknesses with its applications.

Analysis of Cryptocurrency Market by Using q‐Rung Orthopair Fuzzy Hypersoft Set Algorithm Based on Aggregation Operators

One of the most important innovations brought by digitization is the cryptocurrency, also called virtual or digital currency, which has been discussed in recent years and in particular is a new platform for investors. Different types of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance Coin, and Tether do not depend on a central authority. Decision making is complicated by categorization and transmission of uncertainty, as well as verification of digital currency. The weighted average and weighted geometric aggregation operators are used in this article to define a multi‐attribute decision‐making approach. This work investigates the uniqueness of q‐rung orthopair fuzzy hypersoft sets (q‐ROFHSS), which respond to instabilities, uncertainty, ambiguity, and imprecise information. This research also covers some fundamental topics of q‐ROFHSS. The model offered here is the best option for learning about electronic currency. This study validates the complexity of decision‐making problems with different attributes and subattributes to obtain an optimal choice. We conclude that Bitcoin has a diverse set of applications and that crypto assets are well positioned to become an important asset class in decision making.

As a distributed ledger, a consensus mechanism is required to ensure all the transaction functions properly. In order to reach a consensus, it is critical to emphasize the importance of performance and efficiency. The use of the right consensus algorithm will significantly improve the efficiency of a blockchain application. This paper reviewed several types of consensus algorithms used in blockchain and discusses the idea of a new consensus algorithm that can improve the performance of consortium blockchain.

Shackled: A 3D Rendering Engine Programmed Entirely in Ethereum Smart Contracts

The Ethereum blockchain permits the development and deployment of smart contracts which can store and execute code 'on-chain' - that is, entirely on nodes in the blockchain's network. Smart contracts have traditionally been used for financial purposes, but since smart contracts are Turing-complete, their algorithmic scope is broader than any single domain. To that end, we design, develop, and deploy a comprehensive 3D rendering engine programmed entirely in Ethereum smart contracts, called Shackled. Shackled computes a 2D image from a 3D scene, executing every single computation on-chain, on Ethereum. To our knowledge, Shackled is the first and only fully on-chain 3D rendering engine for Ethereum. In this work, we 1) provide three unique datasets for the purpose of using and benchmarking Shackled, 2) execute said benchmarks and provide results, 3) demonstrate a potential use case of Shackled in the domain of tokenised generative art, 4) provide a no-code user interface to Shackled, 5) enumerate the challenges associated with programming complex algorithms in Solidity smart contracts, and 6) outline potential directions for improving the Shackled platform. It is our hope that this work increases the Ethereum blockchain's native graphics processing capabilities, and that it enables increased use of smart contracts for more complex algorithms, thus increasing the overall richness of the Ethereum ecosystem.

CERTbchain: A Step by Step Approach Towards Building A Blockchain based Distributed Appliaction for Certificate Verification System

A certificate is a document that is received once the person completed a particular course. This certificate can be used to get a job or to get admitted to an institute/university of higher studies. Most of the institutes/universities do not have a mechanism in the admission system that can catch forged certificates. Hence, a system that can store certificates on the blockchain and stop the admission forgery through fake certificates is required. The proposed framework is based on blockchain technology that improves security, transparency, etc., and reduces the cost. To overcome the problem of fake certification, a chain of blocks is created for certificates that are immutable as well as transparent amongst all the nodes in the system. This paper presents a step-by-step development process for a certificate verification system using blockchain technology. The key component of this system is a smart contract. A Smart contract Certi has been developed for storing certificates by using a text editor Sublime Text3 and an IDE Remix Ethereum. The validity of the stored certificates can be checked by the employer or admission team at the time of recruitment or admission using Certi smart contract. Blockchain technology possesses its transparency feature hence at the same time the same data on the certificate can be seen by the employer, admission team as well as student itself.

Auction System for Agricultural Trade Using Blockchain Technology: A Survey with Proposed Framework

Smart approaches such as Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things are proven to be superior answers to the expansion of agriculture in terms of efficiency and safety of trade and supply. Agri-trade involves the buying and selling of products that have been produced through farming industries. Online auction is defined as a process where the buyers and sellers can come on an integrated platform and are allowed to bid in a fixed time frame. Decentralized Blockchain-based e-auction system increases auction security and efficiency and transforms the auction process by eliminating intermediaries. With centralized auction, where websites or platforms gather bids and calculate auction outcomes, it is difficult to build confidence among sellers, buyers, and auctioneers. This system lacks transparency, anonymity, and hence prove to be untrustworthy. So, a broad architecture for decentralized auctions that are used to track and trace bids to execute the transactions safely and securely between the seller and the buyers without the involvement of untrusted third parties, is needed. In this work, we give a complete overview of auction systems using blockchain technology. Then the work uses solidity-based smart contracts deployed on Ethereum test network for executing decentralized, privacy preserving auction system. This system enhances the efficiency and safety of trade and supply of agricultural products and is referred to as an Agro auction system using Blockchain. This work opens opportunities for future research to build a complete end-to-end solution for agricultural auction.

Blockchain: A Healthcare Perspective

Blockchain can be considered chain connecting blocks with a hash, grouped. Each contains its independent data and reference of the previous linked data. It creates a network controlled by the participants as to what they want to store and with whom they want to share. Blockchain technology can restructure the healthcare sector and upgrade the current situation, as it is secure, transparent, and reliable and stores real-time data. It can benefit healthcare by transforming the documentation of health records to electronic health records and remote patient monitoring sharing of these records to the concerned authorities (like government, hospitals, pharmaceutical industry, medical clinics, and insurance companies) using smart contracts. Blockchain provides an environment to keep medical data safe secure. It can keep data incorruptible, decentralized, and transparent log, allowing Blockchain’s extensive use for security applications. In this paper, the authors had discussed the working and features of Blockchain, implementation of Blockchain in healthcare, various Blockchain enabled healthcare system, blockchain model and EHR management, and various challenges in Blockchain.

A Hyperledger Fabric-based System Framework for Healthcare Data Management

A blockchain is an ever-growing list of records that are linked to each other in a distributed network. These linked records called ledgers are immutable in nature providing resistance to change. Blockchain provides a secure way of processing the data in a distributed environment. It was widely involved in crypto currencies in the earlier days and however its application in bit coin motivated and inspired other applications to adapt its concepts. Its application in healthcare requires blockchain to be highly secure, provide a more trusted environment than the traditional blockchain, that is by design should be an enterprise level blockchain by restricting access to the public. Hyperledger Fabric caters to all these requirements in providing a secure and distributed environment for healthcare systems. In healthcare there are a lot of fields where Hyperledger Fabric can be adopted, but the focus here is given to management of patient's medical records. Traditionally the medical records are either stored centrally in a database that is accessible to only the hospitals owning it, this creates a several of problems for patients. The aim is to consider the records are handled, how the patient will interact in the real world and design a system using hyper ledger Fabric to tackle major problems using smart contract.

Blockchain Based Secured Load Balanced Task Scheduling Approach for Fitness Service

In recent times, the evolution of blockchain technology has got huge attention from the research community due to its versatile applications and unique security features. The IoT has shown wide adoption in various applications including smart cities, healthcare, trade, business, etc. Among these applications, fitness applications have been widely considered for smart fitness systems. The users of the fitness system are increasing at a high rate thus the gym providers are constantly extending the fitness facilities. Thus, scheduling such a huge number of requests for fitness exercise is a big challenge. Secondly, the user fitness data is critical thus securing the user fitness data from unauthorized access is also challenging. To overcome these issues, this work proposed a blockchain-based load-balanced task scheduling approach. A thorough analysis has been performed to investigate the applications of IoT in the fitness industry and various scheduling approaches. The proposed scheduling approach aims to schedule the requests of the fitness users in a load-balanced way that maximize the acceptance rate of the users’ requests and improve resource utilization. The performance of the proposed task scheduling approach is compared with the state-of-the-art approaches concerning the average resource utilization and task rejection ratio. The obtained results confirm the efficiency of the proposed scheduling approach. For investigating the performance of the blockchain, various experiments are performed using the Hyperledger Caliper concerning latency, throughput, resource utilization. The Solo approach has shown an improvement of 32% and 26% in throughput as compared to Raft and Solo-Raft approaches respectively. The obtained results assert that the proposed architecture is applicable for resource-constrained IoT applications and is extensible for different IoT applications.

Hyperledger Healthchain: Patient-Centric IPFS-Based Storage of Health Records

Blockchain-based electronic health system growth is hindered by privacy, confidentiality, and security. By protecting against them, this research aims to develop cybersecurity measurement approaches to ensure the security and privacy of patient information using blockchain technology in healthcare. Blockchains need huge resources to store big data. This paper presents an innovative solution, namely patient-centric healthcare data management (PCHDM). It comprises the following: (i) in an on-chain health record database, hashes of health records are stored as health record chains in Hyperledger fabric, and (ii) off-chain solutions that encrypt actual health data and store it securely over the interplanetary file system (IPFS) which is the decentralized cloud storage system that ensures scalability, confidentiality, and resolves the problem of blockchain data storage. A security smart contract hosted through container technology with Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus ensures patient privacy by verifying patient preferences before sharing health records. The Distributed Ledger technology performance is tested under hyper ledger caliper benchmarks in terms of transaction latency, resource utilization, and transaction per second. The model provides stakeholders with increased confidence in collaborating and sharing their health records.

How Can Applications of Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence Improve Performance of Internet of Things? -- A Survey

In the era of the Internet of Things (IoT), massive computing devices surrounding us operate and interact with each other to provide several significant services in industries, medical as well as in daily life activities at home, office, education sectors, and so on. The participating devices in an IoT network usually have resource constraints and the devices are prone to different cyber attacks, leading to the loopholes in the security and authentication. As a revolutionized and innovated technology, blockchain, that is applied in cryptocurrency, market prediction, etc., uses a distributed ledger that records transactions securely and efficiently. To utilize the great potential of blockchain, both industries and academia have paid a significant attention to integrate it with the IoT, as reported by several existing literature. On the other hand, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is able to embed intelligence in a system, and thus the AI can be integrated with IoT devices in order to automatically cope with different environments according to the demands. Furthermore, both blockchain and AI can be integrated with the IoT to design an automated secure and robust IoT model, as mentioned by numerous existing works. In this survey, we present a discussion on the IoT, blockchain, and AI, along with the descriptions of several research works that apply blockchain and AI in the IoT. In this direction, we point out strengths and limitations of the related existing researches. We also discuss different open challenges to exploit the full capacities of blockchain and AI in designing an IoT-based model. Therefore, the highlighted challenging issues can open the door for the development of future IoT models which will be intelligent and secure based on the integration of blockchain and AI with the IoT.

A Systematic Review of Blockchain-Based System: Transaction Throughput Latency and Challenges

Blockchain is a relatively new technology that is already gaining traction in the academic community. A peer-topeer network structure underpins blockchain technology. It is made up of blocks, which are inventories that develop as new accounts are added to the system. Blockchain's stability is ensured by cryptographic technology. Although blockchain is rapidly developing and providing us with a secure and convenient service, it is not without its drawbacks. Bitcoin suffers from low throughput and high latency, both of which are detrimental to the scalability of the blockchain. The transaction rate of Bitcoin is 4.6 transactions per second. Visa conducts 1,700 transactions every second on average. Since the number of transactions on the blockchain is increasing every day, it's critical to address scalability problems until the system hits its limit. Privacy leakage and selfish mining are explored in detail, along with potential solutions. As a future direction, we envisage focusing more on improving the efficiency of throughput and latency with the suggested solutions of authentication, monitoring selection for an epoch, and mass mining using modified proof of work algorithm.

CBCIoT: A Consensus Algorithm for Blockchain-Based IoT Applications

Internet of things is widely used in the current era to collect data from sensors and perform specific tasks through processing according to the requirements. The data collected can be sent to a blockchain network to create secure and tamper-resistant records of transactions. The combination of blockchain with IoT has huge potential as it can provide decentralized computation, storage, and exchange for IoT data. However, IoT applications require a low-latency consensus mechanism due to its constraints. In this paper, CBCIoT, a consensus algorithm for blockchain-based IoT applications, is proposed. The primary purpose of this algorithm is to improve scalability in terms of validation and verification rate. The algorithm is developed to be compatible with IoT devices where a slight delay is acceptable. The simulation results show the proposed algorithm’s efficiency in terms of block generation time and transactions per second.
