Pallavi Shetty, M. Ranjith Kumar, Tushar Vyas, M Angulakshmi · 6 authors

Controlling technological processes using digital technologies affects minimizing costs, both in terms of time and economy, and consequently dramatically increases labor productivity. Optimization of automation of controlled processes based on digital technologies is one of the main directions of development of information technologies. Increasing the dependability of the data of controlled mechanisms is one of the main directions of research today. In the modern era of information and globalization, a sharp growth in the set of data leads to the evolution of processes for storing, processing, and transferring data in network technologies. As a result, the problem of data reliability in these networked systems is growing. Today, improving data reliability based on information security is an urgent problem. Blockchain technology, which appeared at the beginning of this century, represents a new approach to securing data in networked systems. The priority of blockchain technology is the presence of a special cryptographic chain in its structure. This study addressed the issue of improving cryptographic techniques and cryptographic strength analysis based on blockchain mechanisms. The modern RSA6 cryptographic method has been improved based on the blockchain engine and the D_ RSA6 algorithm has been developed. The crypto security of the D_RSA6 algorithm has been analyzed and experimented with. It is proved that the developed algorithm D_RSA6 is the optimal method for increasing the reliability of network systems data. The algorithm, based on the integration of blockchain technology with cryptographic methods, leads to a 2-fold increase in cryptocurrency tolerance. This allows you to increase the reliability of the data.

Automated Verification of Multi-Party Agreements and Scheduling of Sending Messages in Distributed Ledger Systems

MIPT, Dolgoprudny, Moscow Region, 141701, Russian Federation, I. A. Fedotov, Anton Khritankov, HSE, Moscow, 115432, Russian Federation · 6 authors

One can use a multi-party agreement in distributed ledger systems and blockchain networks to reach an agreement on changes of the state of the system. If one of the network members proposes а transaction, then certain network participants shall confirm it. After that the whole network can consider transaction as a valid one. A multiparty agreement or consensus determines the composition of these participants. Based on the historical data set, one can calculate the probability of confirming a transaction for each of the participants. In this paper, we use a statistical model checking approach to determine the likelihood that the network accepts a transaction. Sending confirmation requests may require an additional fee. We calculate the probability, and the mathematical expectation of the number of messages before reaching a consensus. Further, consensus models are built in the form of a Markov chain with various strategies for sending messages. Based on the proposed methods, we design a tool that automatically builds models for various strategies of sending messages and verifies the model using a statistical model verification approach. After choosing the optimal model, one can send confirmation messages using the scheduler module of developed tool.

Adaptive Authentication Protocol Based on Zero-Knowledge Proof

Nikita Konstantinovich Chistousov, Igor A. Kalmykov, Daniil Vyacheslavovich Dukhovnyj, М. И. Калмыков · 5 authors

Authentication protocols are expanding their application scope in wireless information systems, among which are low-orbit satellite communication systems (LOSCS) for the OneWeb space Internet, automatic object identification systems using RFID, the Internet of Things, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET). This is due to the fact that authentication protocols effectively resist a number of attacks on wireless data transmission channels in these systems. The main disadvantage of most authentication protocols is the use of symmetric and asymmetric encryption systems to ensure high cryptographic strength. As a result, there is a problem in delivering keys to the sides of the prover and the verifier. At the same time, compromising of keys will lead to a decrease in the level of protection of the transmitted data. Zero-knowledge authentication protocols (ZKAP) are able to eliminate this disadvantage. However, most of these protocols use multiple rounds to authenticate the prover. Therefore, ZKAP, which has minimal time costs, is developed in the article. A scheme for adapting protocol parameters has been developed in this protocol to increase its efficiency. Reductions in the level of confidentiality allow us to reduce the time spent on the execution of the authentication protocol. This increases the volume of information traffic. At the same time, an increase in the confidentiality of the protocol entails an increase in the time needed for authentication of the prover, which reduces the volume of information traffic. The FPGA Artix-7 xc7a12ticsg325-1L was used to estimate the time spent implementing the adaptive ZKAP protocol. Testing was performed for 32- and 64-bit adaptive authentication protocols.

Quantum Resilience Estimation Method Blockchain

Alexei Petrenko, Sergei Petrenko

Abstract Purpose of work is the development of a new method for estimating the quantum resilience of modern blockchain platforms based on the effective solution of cryptanalysis problems for asymmetric encryption schemes (RSA, El-Gamal) and digital signature (DSA, ECDSA or RSA-PSS), based on computationally difficult problems of factorization and discrete logarithm. Research method is the use of quantum algorithms providing exponential gain (eg Shor’s algorithm) and quadratic gain (eg Grover’s algorithm). Due to the fact that the class of problems solved by quantum algorithms in polynomial time cannot yet be significantly expanded, more attention is paid to cryptanalysis based on the quantum Shor algorithm and other polynomial algorithms. Results of the study include a classification of well-known algorithms and software packages for cryptanalysis of asymmetric encryption schemes (RSA, El-Gamal) and digital signature (DSA, ECDSA or RSA-PSS) based on computationally difficult problems of factorization and discrete logarithm has been built. A promising method for solving problems of cryptanalysis of asymmetric encryption schemes (RSA, ElGamal) and digital signature (DSA, ECDSA or RSA-PSS) of known blockchain platforms in polynomial time in a quantum computing model is proposed. Algorithms for solving problems of quantum cryptanalysis of two-key cryptography schemes of known blockchain platforms in polynomial time are developed, taking into account the security of the discrete algorithm (DLP) and the discrete elliptic curve algorithm (ECDLP). A structural and functional diagram of the software package for quantum cryptanalysis of modern blockchain platforms “Kvant-K”, adapted to work in a hybrid computing environment of the IBM Q quantum computer (20 and 100 qubits) and the IBM BladeCenter (2022) supercomputer, has been designed. A methodology has been developed for using the “Kvant-K” software package to assess the quantum stability of blockchain platforms: InnoChain (Innopolis University), Waves Enterprise (Waves, Vostok), Hyperledger Fabric (Linux, IBM), Corda Enterprise, Bitfury Exonum, Blockchain Industrial Alliance, Exonum (Bitfury CIS), NodesPlus (b41), Masterchain (Sberbank), Microsoft Azure Blockchain, Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, etc. Practical relevance: The developed new solution for computationally difficult problems of factorization and discrete logarithm, given over finite commutative (and non-commutative) associative algebras, in a quantum model of computing in polynomial time. It is essential that the obtained scientific results formed the basis for the development of the corresponding software and hardware complex “Kvant-K”, which was tested in a hybrid computing environment (quantum computer IBM Q (20 and 100 qubits) and/or 5th generation supercomputer: IBM BladeCenter (2022), RCS based on FPGA Virtex UltraScale (2020), RFNC-VNIIEF (2022) and SKIF P-0.5 (2021). An appropriate method for estimating the quantum stability of these blockchain platforms based on the author’s models, methods and algorithms of quantum cryptanalysis has been developed and tested. Keywords: blockchain and distributed ledger technologies (DLT), SMART contracts, blockchain security threat model, quantum security threat, cryptographic attacks, quantum cryptanalysis, quantum and post-quantum cryptography, quantum algorithms Shor, Grover and Simon algorithms, quantum Fourier transform, factorization and discrete logarithm problem, post-quantum cryptography, quantum resilience of blockchain platforms.

ANALYSIS OF SECURITY PROBLEMS OF PEER-TO-PEER NETWORKS

Леонід Куперштейн, Mykhailo Krentsin, A. V. Dudatyev, Vladyslav Kaplun

The basic concepts of peer-to-peer networks are analyzed. The current areas of their use are indicated, namely file-sharing services, teleconferencing systems, gaming and trade services, etc. The types of structural organization are considered, and their advantages and disadvantages are determined. According to the degree of centralization, pure, hybrid and federal architectures are distinguished. The classification of peer-to-peer peer networks by connection method and function is also given. Analysis of the prevalence of peer-to-peer networks in the modern world has proved the demand and relevance of the use of decentralized network technology, especially in the field of finance. Possible types of attacks on peer-to-peer networks are analyzed. Both general and specific attacks are highlighted. Specific attacks are oriented on user, application or network. Methods and mechanisms of protection for each of the studied types of attacks are given. The results of the analysis are systematized, namely for each attack the impact on the data, the degree of danger and the level of protection is determined. It also indicates the direction of violation of information security of each attack, namely the integrity, accessibility, confidentiality. It turned out to be no less interesting for malefactors, as evidenced by the significant number of hacks. The research of attacks on P2P networks showed a wide range of both general and specialized. At the same time, attacks are differentiated according to the degree of danger and the aspect of security breach. The most dangerous were attacks that could violate the confidentiality and integrity of data. These include the following attacks: distributed denial of service, index poisoning, sibyl attack, eclipse attack, botnets, masquerade. The research is the basis for further study of the shortcomings of the protection of peer-to-peer networks and the development of new secure mechanisms for data exchange in decentralized structures.

HOW INFORMATION ASYMMETRY AND CYBERCRIMINAL RISK AFFECT VOLATILITY AND RETURN OF CRYPTOCURRENCIES

WAN ATIQAH WAN JAMARUL IMRAN, Mohamed Hisham Yahya, Muhammad Hafiz Ali, MOHD AKBAL QAMAS ABDUL BASIR .

This research studies the factors that affect volatility in cryptocurrency markets. The relationship between information asymmetry and cybercriminal risks are studied against the volatility and return of cryptocurrencies, namely, Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) dan Ripple (XRP). These cryptocurrencies are selected as they are cryptocurrencies that are being traded by Luno, Sinergy and Tokenzie (the exchange companies regulated by the Securities Commissions of Malaysia). 730 observations were collected for each cryptocurrency via the CoinMarketCap website, from 1 January 2019 to 30 December 2020. The ADF test and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test have been conducted before the analysis of the data. The results show the stationarity and non-normality of the data collected. The EGARCH-GED model is used to analyse the relationship between information asymmetry and volatility. The findings indicate a significant relationship between information asymmetry and volatility in BTC, ETH ad XRP. The Event Study Method (ESM) is used to analyse the effect of cybercriminal risks on returns. The result shows that all four cryptocurrencies show a significant relationship between cybercriminal risks and returns.

Використання технології блокчейн для обліку та розподілу внесків благодійного фонду

Оксана Юріївна Герасименко, Валерія Миколаївна Бачинська

The object of research is software for financial accounting and distribution of funds in a non-profit charitable foundation using smart contracts of the Ethereum platform. The work is aimed at designing and implementing a software application for a charitable foundation, which allows to exclude the misuse of funds of a non-profit charitable foundation. The paper proposes an implementation of the Ethereum smart contract for the software of a charitable foundation. In the app, users can apply for financial aid or make a charitable donation. The request for financial support is confirmed by administrators to avoid abuse by those seeking help. Anyone who has a crypto wallet can become a sponsor by transferring funds from its account to a selected request. The sponsor remains incognito when making a charitable contribution. After collecting the entire declared amount, the funds are automatically transferred to the crypto wallet of the request’s owner. A smart contract and a corresponding decentralized web application for interacting with it were experimentally deployed, and their joint work was tested. To implement the smart contract, the Solidity programming language was chosen; developed smart contract converted to bytecode using remix. The resulting bytecode is ready to be deployed on the Ethereum platform. Decentralized web application for interacting with the contract is implemented using Web3.js, Vue.js. A rough estimate of the cost of deploying a project on the Ethereum platform has been made. The deployment and operation of smart contracts and web applications comes with a certain overhead, which is most dependent on the cost of ether. However, this is a justified price to pay for the transparency of transactions and the shadowing of the turnover of funds of the charitable foundation. The results of the research can be used as a basis for further transformation into full-fledged software with the ability to submit all reporting documents to the relevant government agencies and sponsors.

Efficiency of the implementation of the peer-to-peer distributed system for securable information storage and processing (TheOOL Project)

V. Hryaschev, Aleksey Nenashev

methodology of evaluation of efficiency of the implementation at industrial enterprises of “peer-to-peer distributed systems of storage and processing of protected information in enterprise networks” has been proposed. The efficiency evaluation is based on the comparison of the indicators of reliability, fault tolerance, and total cost of ownership of the implementation of corporate information systems within the proposed system and its possible alternatives. The “peer-to-peer distributed system of storage and processing of protected information” is designed for the protection of distributed computing and incapsulation of private networks without restricting possibilities for usable interactions in the process of implementation of Industry 5.0 and Super Smart Society technologies. When these concepts get implemented in an enterprise, manufacture, logistics, and sales are merged into a global geographically and organizationally distributed information system for data exchange, which functions on top of the Internet. The proposed system offers tools for setting up distributed computing, and it ensures an effective response to threats by applying cryptography, unauthorized access protection with the use of biometry and an innovative protocol for information exchange and control of topology powered by distributed ledger technology, while also optimizing the utilization of computing capacity.

Security of search and verification protocol in multidimensional blockchain

Ilya Shilov, D A Zakoldaev

The issue of secure data exchange and performing external transactions between robust distributed ledgers has recently been among the most significant in the sphere of designing and implementing decentralized technologies. Several approaches have been proposed to speed up the process of verifying transactions on adjacent blockchains. The problem of search has not been under research yet. The paper contains security evaluation of data exchange between independent robust distributed ledgers inside multidimensional blockchain. Main principles, basic steps of the protocol and major requirements for it are observed: centralized approach, subset principle and robust SVP. An equivalence of centralized approach and ideal search and verification functionality is proven. The probability of successful verification in case of using fully connected network graph or equivalent approach with fully connected graph between parent and child blockchain is shown. The insecurity of approach with one-to-one links between child and parent ledgers or with a subset principle is proven. A robust search and verification protocol for blocks and transactions based on the features of robust distributed ledgers is presented. The probability of attack on this protocol is mostly defined by the probability of attack on verification and not on search. An approach to protection against an attacker with 50% of nodes in the network is given. It is based on combination of various search and verification techniques.

Scientific Aspects of Structural and Parametric Simulation Modeling of Blockchain Systems

Anastasia Spirkina

Over the past decade, in addition to multiservice networks, blockchain technology has undergone significant development due to the possibility of organizing a safe, integral, reliable exchange and storage of information. Due to the great demand for the technology, there is a problem of data transmission to the operators' networks. At the same time, a key task appears to consider the effect of this technology on network characteristics to predict traffic behavior on the network and ensure the required service quality indicators, as well as the stability of the state of the public communication network elements when the distributed ledger technology is operating. However, to consider and analyze the influence of technology in a full-scale experiment is a labor-intensive task that cannot always be performed, therefore, in this article, the authors propose to consider approaches to structural-parametric modeling of these systems.

APPLICATING BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY IN CRITICAL DISTRIBUTED INFORMATION SYSTEMS: CONCEPTUAL FOUNDATIONS

I.N. Fabijanovskij, V.V. Nikolaev, I.B. Saenko

Introduction: the most promising approach to the creation of critical distributed information systems is the use of modern information technologies. In this regard, it is of great interest to study the possibilities of building systems of this class based on blockchain technology, which, unlike traditional transactional technology, involves distributed data storage with the formation of a distributed ledger. Purpose: the purpose of the research is to develop a conceptual framework for such an approach, covering the features of blockchain technology. Methods: the goal is achieved by conducting a comparative analysis of blockchain technology and transactional technology, developing an algorithm for the functioning of the system, determining the order of interaction between governing bodies and forming criteria for building a system based on blockchain technology. Results: the results of a comparative analysis showed that the introduction of blockchain technology into critical distributed information systems increases the efficiency of data collection and the availability of information resources stored and transmitted within the system. The developed algorithm for the functioning of a distributed information system based on blockchain technology contains three stages, during which, through the use of hash functions, converting the content of the transmitted document into a digital fingerprint and distributing a chain of data blocks across all network nodes, distributed data storage and complete security are ensured. Practical relevance: the considered order of interaction between governing bodies and exchange of information resources in a system based on blockchain technology demonstrated the possibility of practical implementation of this technology in a critical distributed information system and made it possible to form criteria for its construction. Discussion: as the main criteria, the coefficients of the timeliness of information exchange and the availability of information resources are proposed. To satisfy these criteria, in the search for optimal combinations of parameters for the implementation of blockchain technology, the simulation model of the functioning of a critical distributed information system based on blockchain technology should be used, which is considered as a further research direction."

The optimization of the cryptocurrency portfolio in view of the risks

Viktor Boiko, Tymoshenko Ye., А Kononenko, Yuliia Rusina · 5 authors

It was determined that the profitabilities of the cryptocurrency are not subject to normal distribution due to the presence of heavy-tailed profitability. This condition does not allow the use of the classical theory of Markowitz's portfolio for the financial asset under consideration. Based on the Cauchy distribution function, the analytical expressions were obtained for the VaR risk measure and the cryptocurrency risk estimation calculations were performed using the VaR approach. Meanwhile, the risk assessment was found as the difference between the most expected value of profitability and the boundary of the risk zone. The set of optimal cryptocurrency portfolios was built based on the modified optimization Markowitz model. The results of the author's calculations have showed that the high profitability and low risk of Bitcoin determines its dominance in the cryptocurrency portfolio. An effective tool for managing the risks of the cryptocurrency portfolio may be its integration into the structure of Amazon stocks.
