MANAGEMENT APPROACHES FOR INDUSTRY 4.0 – THE ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE PERSPECTIVE

The Industry 4.0 concept describes a decentralized production chain that extends from design to the supply chain, production, distribution as well as customer service. Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) employ software and internet-connected machines that communicate in real-time to reduce error rates and increase efficiency. The basis is the co-operation of separate control units that are capable of autonomous decision-making, managing the assigned technological unit and in particular becoming an independent and full member of comprehensive production units. The Industry 4.0 concept requires continuous innovation and education that not only depends on the peoples’ skills but also on organizational culture. Appropriate managerial approaches play a vital role in the development of organizational culture. Most studies discuss technical aspects, but do not pay attention to managerial approaches and organizational culture, which are a major factor influencing the success of this concept. The aim of the paper is to examine the level of organizational culture in the Czech Republic and to seek appropriate managerial approaches for the development of organizational culture that can support the environment for innovation in the organization and therefore facilitate the entrepreneurship in the Industry 4.0 concept. A partial goal will be, among other things, to identify the implications of Industry 4.0 for human resources. In order to determine organizational culture in organizations, a large study was carried out in the form of a questionnaire survey − the Czech translation of Wallach᾽s Questionnaire (1983). According to the findings, the respondents perceive the organizational culture in the organizations under review is more bureaucratic and supportive than innovative. In their view the signs of innovative culture are not so striking. It is necessary to change managerial approaches to support innovative solutions.

Success Factors of the Blockchain Adoption for Smart Manufacture

Currently, the discussion about smart city becomes a trend topic in which the development of the Internet of Thing (IoT) is used in various sectors including in the manufacturing sector where the Indonesian government is intensively increasing the capacity and production quality. The use of IoT in both smart manufacture and smart city become an interesting thing topic for research and the combination of the new technology Blockchain, may proof the reliability of data. Trust, transparent, secure, real time online process as a new phenomenon to merge IoT with Blockchain technology into smart manufacturing technology. However, for maintaining quality and sustainability, required technology governance so the achievement of implementation can be done well. This research uses the method called Systematic Literature Review (SLR) find the Blockchain adoption factors for Smart Manufacturing Technology Governance and the research conducted on several reputable publications. The result found, there are 35 adoption success factors found from the adoption of blockchain technology into smart manufacture industry. The influence of the technology governance process in smart manufacture industry increase sustainability, realtime and accurate decision making for the industry.

Blockchain Enabled Traceability – Securing Process Quality in Manufacturing Chains in the Age of Autonomous Driving

Autonomous driving (AD) promises to disrupt current process management practices in the automotive industry, as processes now have to fulfill increasing requirements for safety, quality and liability. This paradigm change especially manifests itself among electrical system suppliers, as the electrical components transmit the vehicle's energy and communication flow, determining safety critical functions in the vehicle such as steering and braking. In this research, we conducted a multiple embedded case study in the electrical supplier industry in order to derive current challenges as well as future requirements for production processes of safety critical products in the age of autonomous driving. Our data suggest, that the established manufacturing process and practices are unable to fulfill the increasing need for digital continuity, transparency and documentation. To overcome those barriers, we propose a blockchain (BC) and Internet of Things (IoT) enabled traceability system. Through the application of BC, processes can be interconnected, tracked and audited, achieving higher security, liability and quality. This is the first paper, which investigates manufacturing of electrical systems for self-driving vehicles as a suitable use case for BC application.

IOT Enabled Smart Logistics Using Smart Contracts

Advancements in sensors and devices have enabled Internet of Things (IoT) adoption in various sectors, especially in domains looking to automate and increase their real-time decision making capabilities to improve efficiencies. Supply chain management in logistics is a perfect fit for adoption of IoT, since it involves shipment of assets being moved, tracked and housed by a number of machines, vehicles and people each day. Smart Contracts are terms and conditions parties can specify that assure trust in the enforceability of the contract and provide visibility at every step of a supply chain. IoT devices can write to a smart contract as a product moves from the factory floor to the store shelves, providing real-time visibility of an enterprises entire supply chain. This paper proposes a smart logistics solution encapsulating smart contracts, logistics planner and condition monitoring of the assets in the Supply Chain Management area. A prototype of the solution is implemented which demonstrates accountability, traceability and liability for asset handling across the supply chain by various parties involved in a logistics scenario.

Pursuing the Vision of Industrie 4.0: Secure Plug-and-Produce by Means of the Asset Administration Shell and Blockchain Technology

The Plug-and-Produce concept requires that after connecting a new module to a system, the exchange of the configuration data takes place. As further operation of the system depends on this initialization procedure, it is necessary to ensure that the data presented by the system and the newly attached component is authentic. Therefore, we propose a new concept for secure Plug-and-Produce functionality, which exploits the combination of the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) and Blockchain technology. On the one hand, the AAS shall be responsible for presenting uniform and standardized configuration data as well as for storing and managing Blockchain. On the other, Blockchain shall ensure authenticity and integrity of the configuration data.

Utilizing Blockchain Technology in Industrial Manufacturing with the help of Network Simulation

The fourth Industrial Revolution is finding its way into modern manufacturing sites. Assets with a certain degree of implemented communication technology will be enabled to interconnect and cooperate with practically every other entity via the Industrial Internet. An extreme amount of data and information will be exchanged all the time. Machines will be empowered to make crucial decisions autonomously influencing whole production processes. Erroneous, illegitimate or tampered data will lead to incorrect decisions and will be posing a huge threat to future strong cross-linked added value networks. An approach to tackle this issue comes from a technology called distributed ledger technology with its most known variant the “blockchain”. Certain properties of blockchain technology are showing promising enhancements for industrial networks primarily in order to guarantee digital trust. In this paper, issues like the ability to scale and the adaption onto the requirements of industrial networks are investigated. It turns out that simulation approaches must be taken into consideration, and a first step for an implementation is presented.

Decentralized Application for Digital Certification

The rise of fraudulent cases seems to be a nuisance to an organization as they're an investment of money. Various resources also gives the impression to be on someone else, who has false claims. The verification process of these organizations are long and tedious process where the organization would have lost its time and resource on. Blockchain technology was introduced fairly recently in literature, which is the underlying technology behind the very popular cryptocurrency Bitcoin. The blockchain is a decentralized approach, it is secured by design network which was to overcome double spending problem by a central server. The concept of servers is eradicated in this architecture, where the data is distributed across geographically on separate ledgers. Blockchain applications have diversified as MIT Media Labs introduced Blockcerts for certification of academic records. Ethereum is platform for developing these decentralized applications using Blockchain ledgers. Ethereum uses a concept called Merkle trees which is the concept used for verification through hashing. As per the working in the literature; this application would make verification of academic documents simple and quick with the usage of Blockchain clients such as Ethereum and an IPFS hash. In this paper we propose a system that provides a solution that addresses the above mentioned issues.

Intellectual Property Protection of 3D Print Supply Chain with Blockchain Technology

Within “Industrie 4.0” approach 3D printing technology is characterized as one of the disruptive innovations. Conventional supply chains are replaced by value-added networks. The spatially distributed development of printed components, e.g. for the rapid delivery of spare parts, creates a new challenge when differentiating between “original part”, “copy” or “counterfeit” becomes necessary. This is especially true for safety-critical products. Based on these changes classic branded products adopt the characteristics of licensing models as we know them in the areas of software and digital media. This paper describes the use of digital rights management as a key technology for the successful transition to Additive Manufacturing methods and a key for its commercial implementation and the prevention of intellectual property theft. Risks will be identified along the process chain and solution concepts are presented. These are currently being developed by an 8-partner project named SAMPL (Secure Additive Manufacturing Platform).

Blockchain in Industrie 4.0: Beyond cryptocurrency

Abstract Industrie 4.0, the transition from static, centrally controlled production to dynamic, decentralized manufacturing, is aiming to increase product quality, customization and efficiency. Autonomous production systems and flexible inter-organizational cooperation are key challenges. Blockchain seems to be a natural fit to cope with these challenges. This article derives major challenges of I4.0 and compares them with benefits of blockchain technology. Use cases demonstrate where challenges and benefits match. Also, well known blockchain issues and possible solutions are addressed.

Blockchain-Oriented Coalition Formation by CPS Resources: Ontological Approach and Case Study

Cyber-physical systems (CPS), robotics, Internet of Things, information and communication technologies have become more and more popular over the last several years. These topics open new perspectives and scenarios that can automate processes in human life. CPS are aimed at interaction support in information space for physical entities communicated in physical space in real time. At the same time the blockchain technology that becomes popular last years allows to organize immutable distributed database that store all significant information and provide access for CPS participants. The paper proposes an approach that is based on ontology-based context management, publish/subscribe semantic interoperability support, and blockchain techniques. Utilization of these techniques provide possibilities to develop CPS that supports dynamic, distributed, and stable coalition formation of the resources. The case study presented has been implemented for the scenario of heterogeneous mobile robots’ collaboration for the overcoming of obstacles. There are two types of robots and an information service participating in the scenario. Evaluation shows that the proposed approach is applicable for the presented class of scenarios.

An ISO/IEC 15408-2 Compliant Security Auditing System with Blockchain Technology

In this study, we utilize a blockchain network as the underlying communication architecture to construct an ISO/IEC 15408-2 compliant security auditing system. The proposed system is an evolutionary paradigm not only seamlessly integrating the advantages, i.e., de-centralization, robustness and tamper-resistance, of the blockchain network, but fulfilling the critical auditing requirements identified by ISO/IEC 15408-2. Versatile intelligent applications, including IoT (Internet of Things) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) robots, are highly suitable to adopt our security auditing system.

A Design of Cyber-physical Production System Prototype Based on an Ethereum Private Network

The concept of cyber-physical production systems is highly discussed amongst researchers and industry experts, however, the implementation options for these systems rely mainly on obsolete technologies. Despite the fact that the blockchain is most often associated with cryptocurrency, it is fundamentally wrong to deny the universality of this technology and the prospects for its application in other industries. For example, in the insurance sector or in a number of identity verification services. This article discusses the deployment of the CPPS backbone network based on the Ethereum private blockchain system. The structure of the network is described as well as its interaction with the help of smart contracts, based on the consumption of cryptocurrency for various operations.

Exploring the applicability of blockchain technology to enhance manufacturing supply chains in the composite materials industry

The decentralized transaction and data management technology that characterizes blockchain can have a significant impact on manufacturing supply chains. This paper aims to investigate the applicability of blockchain technology in the supply chain of composite materials/carbon fibre, in particular the manufacturing of structures and components relying on semi-finished materials such as prepregs (preimpregnated) which require temperature-controlled transportation and storage conditions. In composite materials distributed ledger/blockchain technology can be used for the purpose of tamper proof history of product manufacturing, provenance, transportation, handling and storage.

Toward Dynamic Resources Management for IoT-Based Manufacturing

The cyber-physical production system (CPPS), which combines information communication technology, cyberspace virtual technology, and intelligent equipment technology, is accelerating the path of Industry 4.0 to transform manufacturing from traditional to intelligent. The Industrial Internet of Things integrates the key technologies of industrial communication, computing, and control, and is providing a new way for a wide range of manufacturing resources to optimize management and dynamic scheduling. In this article, OLE for process control technology, software defined industrial network, and device-to-device communication technology are proposed to achieve efficient dynamic resource interaction. Additionally, the integration of ontology modeling with multiagent technology is introduced to achieve dynamic management of resources. We propose a load balancing mechanism based on Jena reasoning and Contract-Net Protocol technology that focuses on intelligent equipment in the smart factory. Dynamic resources management for IoT-based manufacturing provides a solution for complex resource allocation problems in current manufacturing scenarios, and provides a technical reference point for the implementation of intelligent manufacturing in Industry 4.0.
