In this article an attempt of analysis of peculiarities of the market of crypto currency is carried out, peculiarities of peer payment systems such as Bitcoin, Namecoin, Litecoin, PPCoin, Novacoin are analyzed. Attitude to crypto currency in the modern world is ambiguous, due to the pseudo anonymity of crypto currency the use of crypto currency may have fraudulent schemes, may be used for financing shadow sector, including terrorism and drug trafficking. Author explores possible links of crypto currency and shadow economy, highlights the main distinguishing characteristics of crypto currency and payment schemes with their use, the analysis of pros and cons of presence of competitive money in the economic cycle of the country is carried out.
The aim of the thesis is to analyze the issues related to virtual currencies. The first chapter is devoted to the definition of the concept of money, their evolution and function. The end of this chapter reviews, or rather balances contemporary monetary system. Second chapter analyzes the virtual currencies with a primary focus on bitcoin. It investigates the evolution of the exchange rate, security, anonymity and production of bitcoins. The end of the chapter consists of analysis of the responses to questionnaire. Third chapter brings an interview about virtual currencies with three economic experts. The rest of the third chapter discusses the suggestions and changes to the issue of virtual currencies.
In spite of the fact that a lot of virtual currencies have been created in recent years, bitcoin is the best known from all of them and regularly reported in the news. Currency without identified creator is appreciated by its user for non-centralized running, without any chance of governments to influence the money supply. The advantages of bitcoin, such as very quick payments worldwide, stop of inflations caused by governments trying to solve their own problems or high level of transactions privacy are widely mentioned. The aim of the article is not to describe the technical issue of bitcoin and explain how this system works, because it has been widely explained in other articles. The aim is focusing on economic aspects of bitcoin, the technical aspects are mentioned only if necessary. For accomplishing the aim the article is split in three parts. The first part is dedicated to answering the question ?What is bitcoin??. It examines whether bitcoin complies with theoretical, empirical and law definition of money. The law definition of money compliance is done for Czech, German and EU law in general, but attitudes of US and Chinese governments are also mentioned. According to the findings, bitcoin cannot be easily considered as money. The second part is focused on monetary aspects of bitcoin. It analyses the question, ?What would mean for an economy to accept bitcoin as legal tender??. In the case of single economy the money supply would be completely out of control of government and due to easy way of bitcoin transferring, money supply could be increased and decreased quickly. In the case of global economy, deflation and its impacts would be inevitable. The third part concentrates on bitcoin banking. No possibility of bitcoin lending does not mean the end of banking industry, but would probably lead to a significant change in how it works.
Cieľom predkladaného článku je definovať základné podmienky finančnej stability a analyzovať možné hrozby novej experimentálnej virtuálnej meny bitcoin na finančnú stabilitu. Úlohou príspevku je definovať oblasti a faktory, v ktorých táto nová virtuálna mena môže potenciálne spôsobovať finančnú nestabilitu.
The aim of the paper is to conduct a research on an impact of blockchain technology platform on the financial sector through cryptocurrency, and an impact on other industries.. The subject of research is not only this technology but also its commercial exploitation. In order to understand the platform, the starting point of this research is an analysis of how the technology functions, after that the advantages for business and economic transaction are identified, and finally the paper deals with an impact of new technology on business, above all on financial operations. The basic hypothesis is that blockchain has achieved a great impact on financial sector, also it has the potential to radically change only the financial sector but also the way we buy and sell, our interaction with the authorities as a way of verifying the ownership from the authorship and the organic food production. Using the available data and synthesis of knowledge from the fields of technology, economics, finance, and politics, 4 scenarios were set up for the future of underlying technology. The scenario approach combined with trend analysis in order to prove the starting hypothesis with high reliability. The research results show that the technology being investigated already has a profound impact on the financial sector, that it is in the initial phase of changing many industries, with the likelihood that they will change them significantly in the next five to ten years. Businesses increasingly discover the power of this technology to exploit the benefits of the Fourth Technological Revolution.
