Securing Refugee Identity: A Literature Review on Blockchain-based Smart Contract

Identity documentation for refugees is a complex process and crucial for host nations. A secured identity management system ensures both security and the efficient provision of services for the host nation and the donor organizations. Realizing the benefits, a handful of studies enriched the blockchain-based security identification for refugees. The research studies presented the introductory, conceptual, and practical solution related to the blockchain-based smart contract. There is a common agreement in the studies that blockchain-based smart contract not only streamlines refugee identity verification but also safeguards against unauthorized entries. Since it is a technology as well, it has been essential to know the present status of the technology in the social context. In such a situation it becomes essential to review the existing research studies to provide insight for future studies. In this study, we reviewed current studies using a thematic approach. Our findings suggest researchers are more inclined to provide conceptual models as the models are important in advancing technology; however, the models need to be implemented for practical advances. However, the main contribution of this study is that this study gathers current efforts in smart contract-based refugee identity management. This study is important for the refugee host nations as well as for stakeholders. Knowledge gained from the study is expected to provide insight into how the technology can be developed using existing theory and implementation frameworks.

Integration of blockchain in contract management for prevention of construction disputes: a systematic literature review and conceptual framework

Certainty, commitment, and communication are essential requirements which seem to be eluding the existing contracting process giving rise to claims and disputes. Contract management practices continue to be manual and traditional despite the digital and technological developments in construction sector. Blockchain technology is increasingly used in different aspects of the business world with its intrinsic qualities of transparency and security. This research conducts systematic literature reviews in three areas aiming to: analyse the chronic problem of construction disputes, investigate recent methods and tools of contractual dispute avoidance, and provide a compelling rationale for the integration of blockchain technology into the contracting process. While the ‘contract-related’ issues were found to be the leading cause of disputes, a ‘centralized’ hierarchy-based environment was established as one of the key challenges to dispute avoidance mechanisms. Discussion followed by feedback survey from industry experts further validated the literature review results. Based on the findings, an integrated blockchain-based conceptual framework is proposed illustrating a contracting process that is: (1) efficient and transparent; (2) digitally integrated; and (3) trustworthy and secure in execution. The study reviews the existing practices and challenges in contract management and offers an interdisciplinary and novel approach for future research in this domain.

Building motivation above trust: A blockchain-based NFT GameFi model for construction workload assessment

In the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) era, construction management faces unique challenges, particularly in the realm of workload assessment. This paper proposes an innovative solution to address these challenges: a blockchain-based GameFi model for construction workload assessment. This model leverages blockchain Non-Fungible Token (NFT) technology to issue various badges, reliably representing employees' workload. The technology ensures the authenticity and tamper-proof nature of the badges, thereby fostering employee motivation through a distributed trust system. This study provides fresh insights into the construction industry's digital transformation and is anticipated to lay the groundwork for similar applications in other sectors.

Exploring Blockchain Research in Supply Chain Management: A Latent Dirichlet Allocation-Driven Systematic Review

Blockchain technology has emerged as a tool with the potential to enhance transparency, trust, security, and decentralization in supply chain management (SCM). This study presents a comprehensive review of the interplay between blockchain technology and SCM. By analyzing an extensive dataset of 943 articles, our exploration utilizes the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) method to delve deep into the thematic structure of the discourse. This investigation revealed ten central topics ranging from blockchain’s transformative role in supply chain finance and e-commerce operations to its application in specialized areas, such as the halal food supply chain and humanitarian contexts. Particularly pronounced were discussions on the challenges and transformations of blockchain integration in supply chains and its impact on pricing strategies and decision-making. Visualization tools, including PyLDAvis, further illuminated the interconnectedness of these themes, highlighting the intertwined nature of blockchain adoption challenges with aspects such as traceability and pricing. Despite the breadth of topics covered, the paper acknowledges its limitations due to the fast-evolving nature of blockchain developments during and after our analysis period. Ultimately, this review provides a holistic academic snapshot, emphasizing both well-developed and nascent research areas and guiding future research in the evolving domain of blockchain in SCM.

Investigating trust and perceived value in cryptocurrencies: do optimism, FinTech literacy and perceived financial and security risks matter?

Purpose This study aims to empirically examine the impact of perceived risks, optimism and financial literacy on trust and the perceived value of cryptocurrencies. It will also examine the impact of trust on the perceived value of cryptocurrencies. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative approach is followed. A questionnaire was designed to collect data from 308 respondents in Jordan. The Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method was used to evaluate the research model and test hypotheses. Findings The results of PLS algorithm analysis showed that perceived risks negatively impact the optimism and trust in cryptocurrencies. This study revealed that while financial literacy minimizes the perceived risks, it serves to enhance optimism and improve the perception of the value of cryptocurrencies. Furthermore, the findings of this study show that optimism plays a significant role in trust and perceived value. Originality/value This study provides new insights into the literature on cryptocurrencies adoption, blockchain theory, the theory of trust in financial systems, the role of the optimism factor and the perception of the value of cryptocurrencies. It also provides important practical implications for different stakeholders.

The rapid growth of electronic commerce (e-commerce) has revolutionized the way Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) conduct business, enabling them to reach global markets and unlock new growth opportunities. However, this digital transformation has also exposed SMEs to an escalating array of cybersecurity threats that could compromise their data, financial integrity, and reputation. Blockchain technology, known for its decentralized and immutable nature, has emerged as a potential solution to enhance the security and resilience of e-commerce operations for SMEs. This research paper aims to investigate the current state of cybersecurity preparedness among SMEs engaged in e-commerce and identify the prevalent threats they face in the digital landscape. To achieve this goal, the study incorporates systematic literature review (SLR) method to examine the best technological solution to address the cybersecurity issues faced by e-commerce organizations in this paper of SMEs operating in e-commerce to gather data on their security practices, incident history, and perceptions of cybersecurity risks. In the context of this research, blockchain technology will be explored as a potential mechanism to enhance the security of e-commerce operations for SMEs. The inherent features of blockchain, such as decentralization, transparency, and immutability, could help protect sensitive data and thwart cyberattacks. By exploring the integration of blockchain into e-commerce systems, the research aims to shed light on the potential benefits and challenges associated with its adoption by SMEs. The research findings will not only shed light on the prevailing cybersecurity practices within SMEs and highlight their vulnerabilities but will also explore how blockchain technology can be leveraged to address these challenges. By understanding these patterns and exploring the feasibility of blockchain integration, the research aims to provide comprehensive recommendations for enhancing cybersecurity resilience among SMEs in e-commerce. This could include proposing tailored cybersecurity training programs, suggesting cost-effective security solutions leveraging blockchain technology, and advocating for regulatory support to safeguard SMEs from cyberattacks. The significance of this study lies in its potential to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on SMEs' cybersecurity landscape in the e-commerce domain, addressing a critical research gap in understanding and addressing the unique challenges faced by these businesses. As SMEs continue to drive economic growth and job creation in many economies, safeguarding their digital assets and ensuring the integrity of e-commerce transactions become imperative for sustainable economic development in the digital era. Enhancing Data Security in Healthcare IoT: An Innovative Blockchain-based Solution

The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized the healthcare industry by enabling the seamless integration of medical devices, sensors, and data-driven applications. However, the large influx of sensitive healthcare data and the proliferation of linked devices have caused grave worries about data security and privacy. Traditional centralized security systems are unable to handle the changing threats and problems in the IoT healthcare setting. This study suggests a novel strategy for boosting data security in the healthcare industry that makes use of blockchain technology. The main goal of this research is to develop and deploy a trustworthy framework that safeguards private healthcare information in IoT networks. Blockchain, as a distributed and decentralized ledger, offers inherent security features such as immutability, transparency, and cryptographic mechanisms. In this research, it is suggested that healthcare data be gathered via the IoT and stored in the Interplanetary File System (IPFS) using Ethereum-based blockchain technology for data security. The suggested method creates a reliable environment for managing healthcare data by exploiting the special features of blockchain. The json and jpeg files are utilized five times on a distributed database housed on IPFS and a centralized database hosted on Firebase, and the upload and download times are recorded. For IoT-based healthcare systems, we have also investigated the cost and length of time required to implement smart contracts on blockchain platforms like Rinkeby, Binance, and Matic. This research suggests implementing the Blockchain platform in an IoT-based healthcare system to provide data confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility.

Enhancing Financial Fraud Detection in Bitcoin Networks Using Ensemble Deep Learning

This paper introduces an innovative approach to bolster financial fraud detection within the Bitcoin network using ensemble deep learning models. By synergistically merging ensemble techniques with state-of-the-art deep learning methodologies, this study creates a robust framework that enhances security and trust in financial systems. Through meticulous data preprocessing and feature engineering, the proposed ensemble model, comprising Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), Feedforward Neural Network (FNN), and Attention LSTM, undergoes comprehensive training and evaluation. Results underscore the ensemble's remarkable performance, surpassing individual models in accuracy, precision, and recall. Notably, the ensemble achieves an accuracy of 99.62%, along with exceptional precision and recall values exceeding 99%. These outcomes validate the ensemble's capacity to detect both fraudulent and legitimate transactions with unprecedented accuracy. By effectively combining advanced machine learning techniques with the intricacies of blockchain-based transactions, this research contributes to building a more secure and reliable financial ecosystem. The findings open avenues for future research, emphasizing the potential of ensemble deep learning models to fortify defenses against evolving financial fraud strategies, fostering trust and integrity in digital transactions.

Understanding Blockchain Technology Adoption in Operation and Supply Chain Management of Pakistan: Extending UTAUT Model With Technology Readiness, Technology Affinity and Trust

This paper aims to investigate the behavioral intention to adopt blockchain technology (BC) in Pakistan’s operation and supply chain management. A conceptual framework is developed by extending the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model, incorporating technology readiness, technology affinity, and trust. The model was empirically examined using 198 responses from an online survey directed by a Pakistan operation and supply chain professionals. The proposed model is tested using Smart PLS. The empirical results suggest that BC adoption is positively influenced by facilitating condition, social influence, effort expectancy, technology readiness, and technology affinity, while performance expectancy and trust negatively influence BC to adopt. This research contributes to the advancement and stimulation of blockchain technology acceptance behavior in supply chains and significant managerial implications that could be more meaningful for developing economies.

Blockchain technology has become more common in the audit industry, posing new problems for traditional audit work. Researchers have been studying the effect of customers’ use of blockchain technology on audits, especially on audit risk and audit methods. This paper examines audit cases of Chinese enterprises that use blockchain technology. It analyzes the effect of the use of blockchain technology on the audit and the new audit problems. It also examines an Australian blockchain audit case using a questionnaire. This case study showed that the application of new technologies to the audit industry may lead to increased inherent risks and control risks. The audit methodology is uncertain and there are two possible approaches: (1) a combination of direct, indirect, account-level, and entity-level evidence and (2) an increase in indirect and entity-level evidence. This paper puts forward the reference case of the Australian blockchain audit experience and suggestions for developing blockchain audits in China.

A Smarter Way to Procure: Exploring the Use of Smart Contracts

Purpose:This article delves into the transformative potential of smart contracts in revolutionizing procurement within supply chain management, with a special focus on the healthcare industry. In line with the challenges posed by complex procurement processes, the study explores how self-executing digital contracts can enhance efficiency, security, and transparency. Theoretical framework:The article is grounded in the concept of smart contracts and their applications in procurement, serving as a bridge between emerging technology and supply chain management innovation. It draws upon an extensive body of literature and research related to smart contracts, supply chain management, and technology adoption. The study is designed to build upon this theoretical foundation, using two comprehensive case studies to provide real-world insights and practical applications. These case studies, situated within the healthcare industry, serve as tangible examples of how the theoretical concepts surrounding smart contracts manifest in actual procurement processes. Design/methodology/approach:To investigate the application of smart contracts in healthcare procurement, we employed a qualitative research approach. This encompassed an extensive literature review of academic papers, industry reports, and relevant articles, uncovering the unique advantages and challenges in procurement & supply chain management. Building upon these findings, we developed a groundbreaking smart contract-based procurement system, presented through sequence diagrams. To validate our solution, we implemented and rigorously tested it within a real-world Ethereum environment. Findings:Our research reveals that integrating smart contracts into procurement processes results in streamlined operations, diminished reliance on intermediaries, and heightened transparency and traceability. Moreover, the proposed solution showcases significant potential for enhancing procurement efficiency in the healthcare sector. Research, Practical & Social Implications: These findings present valuable insights with far-reaching implications and hold substantial implications for stakeholders. Healthcare organizations can harness smart contracts to optimize their procurement procedures, yielding improved efficiency, transparency, and security. In a rapidly digitalizing landscape, our research empowers companies to maintain their competitive edge while delivering enhanced value to partners and customers. Originality/value:This article contributes significantly to the existing literature by offering a comprehensive examination of smart contract integration within procurement function, set within the broader context of supply chain management. It introduces a pioneering solution and provides a validated methodology, paving the way for in-depth exploration of smart contracts' impact on diverse stakeholders across healthcare supply chains

A Review of Research on Blockchain Empowered Supply Chain Financing in China

To promote theoretical and empirical research on blockchain-enabled supply chain finance in China, this article provides an overview of relevant studies in China. Currently, research related to blockchain-enabled supply chain finance in China primarily focuses on three aspects: the underlying mechanisms of blockchain-enabled supply chain finance (including decentralization and consensus mechanisms, distributed storage, tamper resistance, and anti-denial features, as well as smart contracts), the positive effects of blockchain-enabled supply chain finance (including comprehensive effects, credit transmission, risk management) and the application scenarios of blockchain-enabled supply chain finance, and the impact mechanisms of blockchain on supply chain finance gaming behaviors (including the influence of blockchain on supply chain finance decision-making, risk assessment, and the supply chain financial system). Overall, research in China on the positive effects of blockchain-enabled supply chain finance (such as cost and benefit analysis, micro-level efficiency) is relatively limited. Additionally, studies on the factors affecting the adoption of blockchain in supply chain finance and the behavior of banks and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in blockchain adoption within supply chain finance are relatively scarce. Given the backdrop of financial technology, further research is needed to deepen our understanding of various aspects related to blockchain-enabled supply chain finance in China.

Investigating barriers to blockchain adoption in construction supply chain management: A fuzzy-based MCDM approach

This study aims to investigate the barriers to the adoption of Blockchain Technology (BT) within the field of Construction Supply Chain Management (CSCM) by unravelling their interrelationships. In doing so, a Pythagorean fuzzy-set-based DEMATEL method to assess these barriers in a complex environment is proposed. The results of the study suggest that “market-based risks”, “high costs for maintaining sustainability”, and “usage in the underground economy” are the most influential barriers to the adoption of BT in CSCM. Furthermore, the study identifies that “inadequate knowledge/employee training”, “contractual risk”, and “scalability issues” play a pivotal role within the CSCM system. The reliability and validation of the obtained results were also shown using sensitivity analysis and the focus-group-discussion approach. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for stakeholders in the construction industry to design and implement effective measures to overcome the identified barriers to the adoption of BT in CSCM. By addressing these barriers, stakeholders can facilitate the adoption of BT, leading to more efficient and effective construction supply chain management practices.

Detecting Sybil Attack in Blockchain and Preventing through Universal Unique Identifier in Health Care Sector for privacy preservation

Health care data requires data secrecy, confidentiality, and distribution through public networks. Blockchain is the latest and most secure framework through which health care data can be transferred on the public network. Blockchain has gained attention in recent year’s due to its decentralized, distributed, and immutable ledger framework. However, Blockchain is also susceptible to many attacks in the permission less network, one such attack is known as Sybil attack, where several malicious nodes are created by the single node and gain multiple undue advantages over the network. In this research work, the Blockchain network is created using the smart contract method which gets hampered due to Sybil attack. Thus, a novel method is proposed to prevent Sybil attack in the network for privacy preservation. Universal Unique Identifier code is used for identification and prevention of the Sybil attack in the self-created networks. Results depict that proposed method correctly identifies the chances of attack and the prevention from the attack. The approach has been evaluated on performance metrics namely, true positive rate and accuracy which were attained as 87.5 % and 91% respectively, in the small network. This demonstrates that the proposed work attains improved results as compared to other latest available methods.

Integrating TAM and IS success model: exploring the role of blockchain and AI in predicting learner engagement and performance in e-learning

This study innovatively intertwines technology adoption and e-learning by integrating blockchain and AI, offering a novel perspective on how cutting-edge technologies revolutionize learning processes. The present study investigates the factors that influence the behavioral use of learners to use blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) in e-learning. The study proposes the integrated model of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Information System (IS) success Model that include perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, system quality, information quality, and service quality as antecedents to behavioral use of blockchain and AI in e-learning. The model also examines the moderating effect of learner self-efficacy on the relationship between behavioral use and e-learning engagement and performance. The study collected data from 322 respondents and analyzed the data using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with a bootstrapping technique. The results show that the factors of TAM model and IS model have the significant and positive effects on behavior to use blockchain and AI in e-learning. Additionally, learner self-efficacy has a significant positive effect on e-learning engagement and performance, but it does not moderate the relationship between behavior to use blockchain or AI and e-learning engagement and performance. Overall, the study provides insights into the factors that influence the adoption of blockchain and AI in e-learning and offers practical implications for educators and policymakers.

According to analysis, hospitals maintain electronic health records most frequently using client/server architecture. The existing way of processing transactions in Punjab's tertiary institutions has serious issues with data accessibility and data privacy. After assessing the system's shortcomings, research was carried out. The Hyperledger fabric blockchain technology and pluggable PBFT have been coupled to assure the security of healthcare transactions.

They also have great prospects to construct faith in order to overcome the major issues in supply chain finance, which is helpful for fostering economic advancement in the Tonkin Gulf region. This paper focuses on introducing the study on using blockchain innovation in supply chain finance in the Tonkin Gulf region and aims to offer suggestions on how supply chain finance could evolve there using blockchain innovation. This paper suggests supply chain finance game applications for pertinent investigations as well as blockchain innovation, supply chain banking threats assessment on the blockchain and machine learning, and supply chain finance implementation study methodologies in the Tonkin Gulf region. The empirical findings presented in this paper demonstrate that the built blockchain supply chain finance platform has an algorithm with an overall processing time of 4.10 seconds, a computational efficiency that is quicker, and the ability to more accurately analyse the pertinent concerns.

Applying Action Design Science Research to Develop a Conceptual Design for Smart Contracts in Real Estate Transaction Processes: The Potential of Blockchain Technology for Transaction Symmetry, Speed and Transparency

Commercial real estate transactions are notorious for their complexity, which stems from multiple property brokers, legal entities, illiquidity, heterogeneity, and a lack of transparency. This conceptual study proposes a novel approach to address these challenges using blockchain technology, which enables buyers and sellers to transact in an informationally symmetrical way within an open real-estate ecosystem. The proposed conceptual model employs tokenisation on the blockchain and is developed using the Design Science Research Methodology and Action Design Science Research approach. The model undergoes multiple stages of evolution, including pre-design, which is validated through expert interviews, to arrive at the final conceptual design. The study identifies six key factors that influence the application of blockchain in real estate transactions, including adoption, governance and compliance, transaction costs, transparency and immutability, security, and scalability. Overall, the study suggests that blockchain has the global potential to significantly reduce transaction costs and improve efficiency in the real estate industry, making it a promising solution for the challenges facing the sector.

Opportunities or Challenges? Audit Risk and Blockchain Disclosures in 10-K Filings

SUMMARY This study investigates whether audit clients’ blockchain activities (including crypto-related activities) affect audit risk by examining the association between blockchain disclosures in 10-K filings and audit fees. Focusing on U.S. firms between 2013 and 2020, we empirically show that audit fees are higher for companies disclosing blockchain activities in 10-K filings. We further find that this positive association is more pronounced for companies disclosing current blockchain implementation than for companies with plans for blockchain activities. The results indicate that clients’ blockchain activities influence audit risk as assessed by external auditors. As blockchain technology and its applications are emerging, our findings have implications that should be considered by auditors, regulators, and top management.

Adopting knowledge-sharing-driven blockchain technology in healthcare: a developing country’s perspective

Purpose This study aims to investigate the key factors that influence the behavioural intention of doctors to adopt the knowledge sharing driven blockchain technology in government hospitals. The study is based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2, with the addition of trust as an independent variable and knowledge sharing as a mediating variable between trust and behavioural intention. Design/methodology/approach The data for the study was collected through a correlation and cross-sectional study using a survey, with a sample of 322 responses being used for the final analysis. The initial analysis of the data was conducted using SPSS v.26, followed by a partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) analysis using SmartPLS v.3.9 to test the validity and reliability of the measures and to examine the hypothesized relationships. Findings The results supported the proposed framework. The results of PLS-SEM indicate that all proposed pathways support the model. In particular, the results of the study reveal that performance expectation, effort expectation, social influence, facilitation conditions and trust are drivers of blockchain adoption and have a significant impact on the behavioural intention of clinicians in hospitals. Furthermore, the study found that knowledge sharing mediated the relationship between trust and behavioural intention. Practical implications The present study sheds light on the challenges facing blockchain technology, such as privacy and trust concerns and proposes a more sustainable approach based on knowledge management to enhance the effectiveness of blockchain technology and overcome these challenges. Originality/value The significance of this paper lies in the limited literature examining the relationships between blockchain technology and knowledge management processes. Furthermore, a hypothetical framework that includes the knowledge sharing process as a mediating variable between trust and behavioural intention to adopt blockchain technology has not been presented or developed in any previous studies, particularly in the context of Iraq. Thus, this work is novel and unique in its approach.

Blockchain Revolutionizing in Emergency Medicine: A Scoping Review of Patient Journey through the ED

BACKGROUND: Blockchain technology has revolutionized the healthcare sector, including emergency medicine, by integrating AI, machine learning, and big data, thereby transforming traditional healthcare practices. The increasing utilization and accumulation of personal health data also raises concerns about security and privacy, particularly within emergency medical settings. METHOD: Our review focused on articles published in databases such as Web of Science, PubMed, and Medline, discussing the revolutionary impact of blockchain technology within the context of the patient journey through the ED. RESULTS: A total of 33 publications met our inclusion criteria. The findings emphasize that blockchain technology primarily finds its applications in data sharing and documentation. The pre-hospital and post-discharge applications stand out as distinctive features compared to other disciplines. Among various platforms, Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric emerge as the most frequently utilized options, while Proof of Work (PoW) and Proof of Authority (PoA) stand out as the most commonly employed consensus algorithms in this emergency care domain. The ED journey map and two scenarios are presented, exemplifying the most distinctive applications of emergency medicine, and illustrating the potential of blockchain. Challenges such as interoperability, scalability, security, access control, and cost could potentially arise in emergency medical contexts, depending on the specific scenarios. CONCLUSION: Our study examines the ongoing research on blockchain technology, highlighting its current influence and potential future advancements in optimizing emergency medical services. This approach empowers frontline medical professionals to validate their practices and recognize the transformative potential of blockchain in emergency medical care, ultimately benefiting both patients and healthcare providers.

Cryptocurrency Adoption among Saudi Arabian Public University Students: Dual Structural Equation Modelling and Artificial Neural Network Approach

Cryptocurrency is receiving widespread acceptance in the international market. Unfortunately, little attention is focused on the full identification of the cryptocurrency adoption factors, especially when it comes to emerging nations like Saudi Arabia. The current investigation is aimed at investigating whether the use of dual structural equation modelling and artificial neural network (SEM-ANN) would permit a better comprehension of the determinants of cryptocurrency adoption than the single-step PLS-SEM technique and explore the predictors of cryptocurrency adoption. An extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model was used. A sample of 344 responses from Saudi Arabian students at public universities was used to verify the model. Unlike the majority of existing studies that were based on a single-step PLS-SEM approach, this investigation employed a superior statistical approach, the dual SEM-ANN approach, considered a unique methodological approach that can recognise variables’ connections that are both linear and nonlinear and predict relationships with higher accuracy. Moreover, the dual SEM-ANN analysis revealed security as the most important factor influencing whether users would accept cryptocurrency, followed by effort expectancy and awareness. The application of the dual SEM-ANN technique and the extension of the UTAUT model with security and awareness constructs have enhanced the existing technology adoption literature. Additionally, methodological, theoretical, and practical contributions were offered by this study.

Blockchain in Healthcare: A Comprehensive Survey of Implementations and a Secure Model Proposal

Blockchain's core attributes, including decentralization, transparency, and immutability, have positioned it as a pioneering technology in the realm of financial technology (fintech) and have rendered it highly applicable across diverse industries. The current enterprise ecosystem has faced setbacks primarily due to a lack of trust in the existing infrastructure. This issue can be traced back to the centralized management of healthcare data, making it vulnerable to tampering and fraudulent activities, resulting in financial losses. The existing enterprise ecosystem failed due to the lack of trust in the currently in-place infrastructure. This problem can be attributed to the centralized healthcare data management, which is prone to tampering and fraudulent activities leading to capital loss. The present study relates to a comprehensive survey conducted in timespan from 2018 to 2022 on the implementation of blockchain technology in the healthcare industry, identifying and discussing the key challenges facing the healthcare industry, such as fraud, and scams against healthcare data. It is found that there is an enormous inclination towards the decentralization of patient-centric data. However, a rapid decline is reported due to the privacy and security concerns of the confidential and sensitive data. Moreover, it is noticed that most of the implementations utilized either Ethereum or Hyperledger. Based on the survey's findings, the study proposed a blockchain-based healthcare framework that can address the identified challenges by providing a secure and transparent platform for collecting, storing, and sharing patient health data while prioritizing security and privacy.
