There Is No Nothing: A Premise-Free Operational Foundation and an Open Verification Platform for Smithian Fold Theory

Maria Smith

There Is No Nothing, Methods Paper 00 version 0.3.0, preserves the two inaugural premise-free results and publishes the shared two-layer roadmap for the Smithian Fold Theory knowledge tree: secure each branch foundation at its exact evidence boundary, then extend it across the full field without treating a publication as a permanent lock. Later branch laws remain separate admissions and are not retroactive premises. The accompanying standard-library-first Python repository implements one fail-closed admission engine for registration, dependency and provenance closure, zero-parameter and no-axiom enforcement, generated candidate enumeration, exactly-one-survivor forcing, minimality, named-shape uniqueness, adverse controls, cryptographic sealing, implementation-distinct recomputation, empirical target custody and publication gates. The engine and verification authority remain cryptographically sealed; an adverse or halted result cannot be converted into a pass by editing the authority surface. The paper gives full candidate, decision, proof, control, source, validator, seal and receipt identities; an engine threat model; the blind empirical protocol; the open licensing and Ernos Labs conformance model; a supersession ledger for prior SFT generations; and a file-level paper-to-evidence map. Version 0.3 publishes the ordered full-field roadmap through Chemistry while Materials remains outside this coordinated release. Branch completion always means dated current-evidence completion at a declared boundary and remains open to lawful extension, correction and falsification.

RB CORPUS 2026: The Knowledge Triangle Route (KTR) & Qutrit Map Solution (QMS)

Roman Burtsev

A unified, computationally reproducible framework built on a single ontological method: KTR (Knowledge Triangle Route). It operates on a three-state topological cell (1-0-1), where '0' acts as an active transit, and two corners merge to generate the third (A+B→C, the Chomsky merge) at the root. This closure allows geometric spectra to be translated into algebraic forms. Beyond Borders: How Atomic Swaps Are Revolutionizing Decentralized Asset Exchange

Alice Lawrence

Atomic swaps represent a groundbreaking advancement in decentralized asset exchange, enabling peer-to-peer trading of cryptocurrencies across different blockchains without the need for intermediaries. By utilizing smart contract technology, these swaps allow users to securely trade assets in a trustless environment, removing the need for centralized exchanges. This paper explores the technical underpinnings of atomic swaps, the benefits they offer over traditional exchange models, and their potential to shape the future of cross-chain transactions. We examine the core mechanisms of hash time-locked contracts (HTLCs), the role of liquidity pools, and the scalability challenges inherent in atomic swap technology. Furthermore, the paper discusses the broader implications of atomic swaps for decentralized finance (DeFi), financial sovereignty, and the global cryptocurrency ecosystem. As the market for decentralized exchanges continues to expand, atomic swaps may emerge as a vital tool for enhancing the efficiency, security, and inclusivity of digital asset trading.

Quantum computational complexity and symmetry

Soorya Rethinasamy, Margarite L. LaBorde, Mark M. Wilde

Testing the symmetries of quantum states and channels provides a way to assess their usefulness for different physical, computational, and communication tasks. Here, we establish several complexity-theoretic results that classify the difficulty of symmetry-testing problems involving a unitary representation of a group and a state or a channel that is being tested. In particular, we prove that various such symmetry-testing problems are complete for bounded-error quantum polynomial time, quantum Merlin–Arthur (QMA), quantum statistical zero-knowledge, two-message quantum interactive proofs (QIPs), two-message QIPs restricted to entanglement-breaking provers, and QIPs, thus spanning the prominent classes of the QIP hierarchy and forging a nontrivial connection between symmetry and quantum computational complexity. Finally, we prove the inclusion of two Hamiltonian symmetry-testing problems in QMA and quantum Arthur–Merlin, while leaving it as an intriguing open question to determine whether these problems are complete for these classes.

Multichain Taprootized Atomic Swaps: Introducing Untraceability through Zero-Knowledge Proofs

Oleksandr Kurbatov, Dmytro Zakharov, Anton Levochko, Kyrylo Riabov · 5 authors

Taprootized Atomic Swaps is an extension for Atomic Swaps that enables the untraceability of transactions in a particular swap. Based on Schnorr signatures, Taproot technology, and zero-knowledge proofs, the taprootized atomic swaps hide swap transactions between regular payments. We propose several implementation options: single-transaction protocol, multiple-transaction protocol that splits the receiving amount in an untraceable way, and multichain swap protocol. Our proposed approach works with any smart-contract-compatible chain and multiple Taproot-compatible chains. We describe the concrete implementation of the protocol and release the source code publically.

Louis F. Rossi

In this issue, we present two very different papers written in two very different styles. The first is a survey of the multiple timescales method for approximating solutions to differential equations. Multiple timescale methods are common in the literature and an integral part of many graduate programs. However, like riding a bicycle, you need some practice, experience, and insight to use it properly and have meaningful results. The second is an exposition on the Mountain Pass Lemma and related mathematical ideas underlying the existence of saddle points. Despite its name, the second article is no ordinary hike through the hills. In “Profits and Pitfalls of Timescales in Asymptotics,” author Ferdinand Verhulst presents a survey of multiple timescale methods. A colleague of mine once sarcastically pointed out that a tremendous amount of insight can be gleaned from the observation that in almost all problems, parameters are either larger than one or smaller than one, leading to an asymptotic approximation in one form or another. However, one does not have to look far to find problems where it is hard to handle the resulting asymptotic series using a simple Taylor series. Multiple timescales can resolve these problems, but the challenge remains of how to know what the multiple timescales should be without having special knowledge of the problem. Verhulst does an admirable job presenting the basic ideas behind determining timescales a priori using two basic concepts: normal forms and bifurcation theory. In the former case, one transforms the problem into a simpler expression to reveal underlying timescales. In the latter case, understanding the dynamics of a system in terms of bifurcations reveals the qualitative structure of the solution and therefore the timescales. Thus, the author puts order to a body of knowledge that can often appear to students as a disjoint collection of tricks for special problems. In “Mountain Passes and Saddle Points,” author James Bisgard develops the Mountain Pass Lemma of Ambrosetti and Rabinowitz which specifies sufficient conditions for the existence of saddle points. Beginning with accessible examples of smooth functions $F: R^2 \rightarrow R$, we can think of $F$ as the height of the landscape. The central element of this manuscript is a very clear proof of the Mountain Pass Lemma, which essentially states that if there is a local minimum in a valley surrounded by a mountain range and there is a point somewhere beyond the mountain range that is lower than the local minimum, then with an additional special requirement, it can be shown that there must be a mountain pass (saddle point) somewhere. While it may seem that there should always be a mountain pass without any additional requirements, the authors present some counterexamples early in the paper to show that this is not a trivial issue. (I could not resist the urge to fire up my tablet and explore some of the sample surfaces.) The special requirement is the Palais--Smale condition, which is the seemingly peculiar condition that every sequence $x_n$ having two properties, (1) that the height above these points is bounded and (2) that the $\| \nabla F(x_n) \|$ approaches zero, must have a convergent subsequence. The author goes on to extend the Mountain Pass Lemma to domains of any finite dimension and from there to Hilbert spaces. Finally, the author uses the concepts involved in the proof to develop methods for finding saddle points. In summary, the Education section in this issue has something for everyone. The first offering focuses on methods and techniques and would be ideal for a graduate course on perturbation methods or applied mathematics. The second paper is analytic, anchored to theorems and proofs but having ample discussion. It would find a home in an undergraduate and graduate real analysis course. Both take a fresh look at classic subjects in mathematics and could be used to liven up traditional courses in most undergraduate and graduate programs.

The Linearity of Quantum Mechanics at Stake: The Description of Separated Quantum Entities

Diederik Aerts, Frank Valckenborgh

We consider the situation of a physical entity that is the compound entity consisting of two ‘separated ’ quantum entities. In earlier work it has been proved by one of the authors that such a physical entity cannot be described by standard quantum mechanics. More precisely, it was shown that two of the axioms of traditional quantum axiomatics are at the origin of the impossibility for standard quantum mechanics to describe this type of compound entity. One of these axioms is equivalent with the superposition principle, which means that separated quantum entities put the linearity of quantum mechanics at stake. We analyze the conceptual steps that are involved in this proof, and expose the necessary material of quantum axiomatics to be able to understand the argument. 1

THE POSTWAR DEVELOPMENT OF IRON AND STEEL INDUSTRY IN JAPAN

Takichi Mitsui

Among the greatest obstacles in the postwar recovery of steel industry in Japan were. counted the shortage of coal, the removal of subvention to the iron and steelprices and -decentralization of large steel firms. A tragic atmosphere thus clouded was pushed away by the breakout of the Korean Incident (June 1950). Again the prices became enhanced. The export was extended and the production increased. Thence came a chance of modernization of iron and steel industry in Japan. The scheme of this plan that had been plotted by the Rationalization Council in the first half of 1951 was encouraged in the second half by establishment of Japan Development Bank, institution of special overeas credit by the Bank of Japan and the favorable development in Capital market.Capital development and production increase of steel firms in Japan was suceessively realized -during the year of 1951. However, towards 1952 the period of reaction began so that an intensification of the sales competition gradually invited a drop in the steel prices, notwith-standing a temporary short boom due to a steel strike in the United States. In April 1952, the industrial control of the Occupation Forces ended and Japan was again allowed to enter an international economic circles. At this moment, owing to establishment of the European Coal and Steel Community, progress of modernization progress in several countries and recovery of the West-Germany iron and steel industry, the steel industry of Japan too was obliged to be entangled with the international contest. In 1953, the steel market again tended to a slight boom due to domestic investment and consumption but at the end of the same year decrease in bath munition demands and steel export again occurred. Without finding domestic demands, the steel products of Japan began to flow out overseas. At this time happily owing to a shortage of steel export from Europe Japanese products filled the markets of South America and India and enjoyed higher prices. It was also evident at the end of 1954 that the iron and steel industry in rapan again inclined to an expansive production. After such historical introduction, the author described in detail (1) the process of rationalization and financing concerned; (2) trends in the situations of raw materials for iron and steel; (3) domestic market and export; (4) some tendencies in special steels; and (5) future prospects.

A symbolic theory of formal modular covariants

Olive C. Hazlett

Part I. Introduction 1. Prologue. Thus far, very little has been published on the general theory of formal modular invariants or covariants.Workers have, on the whole, obtained results for special, more or less isolated, cases; and although some beautiful and important general theorems have been proved, they are more or less unrelated. This is, of course, only natural in any division of knowledge in its formative state.Nevertheless, no worker in the field could fail to be conscious of a certain uniformity common to the special cases that have been studied in detail; though (alas !) this uniformity usually appeared to be broken ruthlessly in the next case studied. This breaking of an apparent law signified, however, merely that we did not know these special cases with a sufficient thoroughness of illuminating detail, or were trying unwittingly to make the laws conform to certain standards, unconsciously preconceived. This latter handicap was laid on us naturally enough by our thorough knowledge of algebraic invariants and the fact that this newer kind of covariants is, in many ways, strikingly like the older, classic covariants, though so tantalisingly different.Their similarity and their difference show themselves in the very beginning of the study: in the definitions, in the simplest examples.Perhaps the differences that first come to mind are those which are inherent in the fields of definition, which, in the case of classic covariants, is the field of reals or ordinary complex numbers and, in the case of modular covariants, is a Galois field, GF[pn], of order pn.These differences are too obvious to mention in detail, but one who has studied the beautiful proofs given by the old masters of invariant theory has been forced to the conclusion that most of the proofs seemed to use the properties of a field of characteristic zero, not in some accidental manner, but rather in veriest necessity.Growing from the surface differences between the two fields are two very important distinguishing characteristics of the two kinds of covariants. It * Part II was presented to the Society, September 7, 1920; Part III, December 28, 1921; Parts IV and V, December 27, 1922.
