Zero knowledge Proofs for Cloud Storage Integrity Checking

With the wide application of cloud storage, cloud security has become a crucial concern. Related works have addressed security issues such as data confidentiality and integrity, which ensure that the remotely stored data are well maintained by the cloud. However, how to define zero-knowledge proof algorithms for stored data integrity check has not been formally defined and investigated. We believe that it is important that the cloud server is unable to reveal any useful information about the stored data. In this paper, we introduce a novel definition of data privacy for integrity checks, which describes very high security of a zero-knowledge proof. We found that all other existing remote integrity proofs do not capture this feature. We provide a comprehensive study of data privacy and an integrity check algorithm that captures data integrity, confidentiality, privacy, and soundness.

KryptoOracle: A Real-Time Cryptocurrency Price Prediction Platform Using Twitter Sentiments

Cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, are becoming increasingly popular, having been widely used as an exchange medium in areas such as financial transaction and asset transfer verification. However, there has been a lack of solutions that can support real-time price prediction to cope with high currency volatility, handle massive heterogeneous data volumes, including social media sentiments, while supporting fault tolerance and persistence in real time, and provide real-time adaptation of learning algorithms to cope with new price and sentiment data. In this paper we introduce KryptoOracle, a novel real-time and adaptive cryptocurrency price prediction platform based on Twitter sentiments. The integrative and modular platform is based on (i) a Spark-based architecture which handles the large volume of incoming data in a persistent and fault tolerant way; (ii) an approach that supports sentiment analysis which can respond to large amounts of natural language processing queries in real time; and (iii) a predictive method grounded on online learning in which a model adapts its weights to cope with new prices and sentiments. Besides providing an architectural design, the paper also describes the KryptoOracle platform implementation and experimental evaluation. Overall, the proposed platform can help accelerate decision-making, uncover new opportunities and provide more timely insights based on the available and ever-larger financial data volume and variety.

Distributed ledger as a tool to ensure trust among business process participants

The paper is devoted to the problem of using distributed ledgers as a tool to ensure trust among business process participants. The purpose of the paper is to offer a systematic review of the applied aspects of modern distributed ledger technologies, based on the experience of studying the technical and algorithmic concepts of the most famous and popular blockchain platforms. We analyze the main ideas underlying distributed ledgers, discuss in general the architecture of distributed ledger platforms, and classify existing systems. The principles of operation and features of permissionless and permissioned blockchain platforms are considered. An overview of the scope and capabilities of distributed ledgers from the perspective of a potential consumer of this technology is given. The actual problems of distributed ledgers are analyzed. Predictions are made about promising and unpromising applications of distributed registry systems. It is concluded that distributed ledger technologies, as an attempt to create a universal tool to solve the problem of trust in the remote implementation of business relations, have great potential for growth. However, they are characterized by a number of unresolved problems related to improving throughput and ensuring the business partners’ privacy.

How TradeLens Delivers Business Value With Blockchain Technology

Despite the growing interest in blockchain technology, there are few examples of business value being delivered by live solutions. One exception is TradeLens, a blockchain- enabled platform for tracking shipping containers and related documentation in global supply chains. This article describes the TradeLens journey from initial prototypes and pilots to its live deployment. Although TradeLens still has a long way to go, its vision to substantially improve global supply chains has kept participants engaged and committed to adopting and growing the ecosystem.

SolAnalyser: A Framework for Analysing and Testing Smart Contracts

Executing, verifying and enforcing credible transactions on permissionless blockchains is done using smart contracts. A key challenge with smart contracts is ensuring their correctness and security. To address this challenge, we present a fully automated technique, SolAnalyser, for vulnerability detection over Solidity smart contracts that uses both static and dynamic analysis. Analysis techniques in the literature rely on static analysis with a high rate of false positives or lack support for vulnerabilities like out of gas, unchecked send, timestamp dependency. Our tool, SolAnalyser, supports automated detection of 8 different vulnerability types that currently lack wide support in existing tools, and can easily be extended to support other types. We also implemented a fault seeding tool that injects different types of vulnerabilities in smart contracts. We use the mutated contracts for assessing the effectiveness of different analysis tools. Our experiment uses 1838 real contracts from which we generate 12866 mutated contracts by artificially seeding 8 different vulnerability types. We evaluate the effectiveness of our technique in revealing the seeded vulnerabilities and compare against five existing popular analysis tools - Oyente, Securify, Maian, SmartCheck and Mythril. This is the first large scale evaluation of existing tools that compares their effectiveness by running them on a common set of contracts. We find that our technique outperforms all five existing tools in supporting detection of all 8 vulnerability types and in achieving higher precision and recall rate. SolAnalyser was also faster in analysing the different vulnerabilities than any of the existing tools in our experiment.

Blockchain energy: Blockchain in future energy systems

The ongoing, in-depth transformation of the electricity sector towards increased use of alternative, renewable energy sources extends beyond a simple decentralisation drive in the electricity market. The transformation process is characterised by the interplay of old and new technologies from the energy sector as well as structural coupling with other sectors, such as the information and communications technology (ICT), enabling the technology transfer as well as market entry by information technology (IT) actors. Blockchain-based technologies have the potential to play a key role in this transition by offering decentralised interfaces and systems as well as an alternative approach to the current organisation form of the energy market. This paper discusses the applicability and prospects for blockchain-based technologies in the energy sector, which are described using the term “blockchain energy”. For the purposes of this study, blockchain energy encompasses all socio-technical and organisational configurations in the energy sector based on the utilisation of the blockchain principle for energy trading, information storage, and/or increased transparency of energy flows and energy services. In the following chapters, the authors present and discuss the current transformation in the electricity market, followed by a review of the different utilisation possibilities for blockchain technologies in the energy sector and a discussion of the barriers and potential for blockchain energy using a transition studies perspective. Finally, the opportunities and risks of blockchain energy are discussed.

The problem of reliable democratic governance is important for survival of any community, and it will be more critical over time communities with levels of social connectivity in society rapidly increasing with speeds and scales of electronic communication. In order to face such challenge, different sorts of rating and reputation systems are being developed, however reputation gaming and manipulation in such systems appears to be serious problem. We are considering use of advanced reputation system supporting "liquid democracy" principle with generalized design and underlying ontology fitting different sorts of environments such as social networks, financial ecosystems and marketplaces. The suggested system is based on "temporal weighted liquid rank" algorithm employing different sorts of explicit and implicit ratings being exchanged by members of the society. For the purpose, we suggest "incremental reputation" design and graph database used for implementation of the system. Finally, we present evaluation of the system against real social network and financial blockchain data. The entire framework is expected to be the foundation of any multi-agent AI framework, so the evolution of distributed multi-agent AI architecture and dynamics will be based on the organic reputation scores earned by the agents that are part of it.

Pharmaceutical Industry Supply Chain Management (SCM) has been an invigorating research topic because the industry strives to explore innovative ways to secure the medicine distribution and to ensure the authenticity of medicine consumed by the patients. A surge in the counterfeit drug has called an urgent effort for the industry to eradicate. In this scope, the fake medicine harm serious health problem for patients. To cope with this urgency, Blockchain offers the new innovative technology that captures the security and accountability in the financial industry for decades. In this spectrum, the new generation of blockchain with smart contract feature enables the utilization of blockchain in an enterprise setting such as Supply Chain Management Systems. In this point, this study explored contemporary for benefit and challenge blockchain adoption based on Systematic Literature Review methodology. At a closer look, the research indicates the impact of the Blockchain Adoption Technology in Pharmaceutical Industry SCM in for four aspects, i.e. supplier, producer, logistic/distributor, and customer. In a specific range, this research explores significant factors from ten leading journals (one thousand two hundred and fourteen papers) and selects solely eighteen relevant documents. The examination reveals the critical research development of blockchain technology adoption in Pharmaceutical SCM and twenty-three essential factors.

A Computational Study on Fairness of the Tendermint Blockchain Protocol

Fairness is a crucial property for blockchain systems since it affects the participation: the ones that find the system fair tend to stay or enter, the ones that find the system unfair tend to leave. While current literature mainly focuses on fairness for Bitcoin-like blockchains, little has been done to analyze Tendermint. Tendermint is a blockchain technology that uses a committee-based consensus algorithm, which finds an agreement among a set of block creators (called validators), even if some are malicious. Validators are regularly selected to the committee based on their investments. When a validator does not have enough asset to invest, it can increase it with the help of participants that delegate their assets to the validators (called delegators). In this paper, we implement the default Tendermint model and a Tendermint model for fairness in a multi-agent blockchain simulator where participants are modeled as rational agents who enter or leave the system based on their utility values. We conducted experiments for both models where agents have different investment strategies and with various numbers of delegators. In the light of our experimental evaluation, we observed that while, for both models, the fairness decreases and the system shrinks in the absence of delegators, the fairness increases, and the system expands for the second model in the presence of delegators.

Cijujung 04 Public Elementary School is a state school, this school is located in the Cikupa-Nagrak village of Cijujung village, cibungbulang sub-district, Bogor Regency. Public elementary schools or other private elementary schools also have very important data. One of them is a master book. The student handbook is a data set of students studying at the school. Student Parent Book is one of the most important parts of the management of this institution. The notes in the master book must be complete. Includes, student biodata, student grades, and student achievement results from the first semester to graduate school. However, in its implementation so far it has been ineffective and inefficient because it is carried out manually, namely by writing data in a thick ledger or a master book. The teacher also had difficulty finding student data in the parent book and also sought students for prospective recipients of PIP assistance. A system is needed that can be used by teachers to find student data in the parent book and also look for students for potential recipients of PIP assistance. Nested queries or queries are queries that have other queries in them. By using the nested query method in the parent book system, the search process for prospective PIP recipient students can be searched as needed because in the parent book system has a student search feature based on the desired category. Based on the nested query method. From the results of the distribution of questionnaires to test the system distributed to informatics engineering system respondents obtained a percentage of system eligibility of 87% so that it can be categorized as very feasible, while the results of distributing questionnaires to user respondents obtained a percentage of system feasibility of 94.5% so that it can be categorized as very feasible

In this paper we proposed the technology, is Blockchain technology. The concept of this paper is to develop a decentralized application for voting system. From there, the transaction votes are stored in the blockchain could be illustrated by the examining the block hashes. The outcome of the project shows the transaction of tokens from voter’s wallet into the candidate’s wallet. This application can deploy on a test platform using the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) it provides the network to test the application. From there, the integrity of the blockchain technology is illustrated.

Office building occupancy monitoring through image recognition sensors

In the Architecture, Engineering, construction and Operations (AEcO) there is a growing interest in the use of the building Information modelling (bIm). Through integration of information and processes in a digital model, bIm can optimise resources along the lifecycle of a physical asset. Despite the potential savings are much higher in the operational phase, bIm is nowadays mostly used in design and construction stages and there are still many barriers hindering its implementation in Facility management (Fm). Its scarce integration with live data, i.e. data that changes at high frequency, can be considered one of its major limitations in Fm. The aim of this research is to overcome this limit and prove that buildings or infrastructures operations can benefit from a digital model updated with live data. The scope of the research concerns the optimisation of Fm operations. The optimisation of operations can be further enhanced by the use of maintenance smart contracts allowing a better integration between users' behaviour and maintenance implementation. In this case study research, the Image recognition (Imr), a type of Artificial Intelligence (AI), has been used to detect users' movements in an office building, providing real time occupancy data. This data has been stored in a bIm model, employed as single reliable source of information for Fm. This integration can enhance maintenance management contracts if the bIm model is coupled with a smart contract. Far from being a comprehensive case study, this research demonstrates how the transition from bIm to the Asset Information model (AIm) and, finally, to the Digital Twin (i.e. a near-real-time digital clone of a physical asset, of its conditions and processes) is desirable because of the outstanding benefits that have already been measured in other industrial sectors by applying the principles of Industry 4.0.

Cryptocurrency is predicted to have a bright future as a new form of 
\nmoney becomes more popular. This research analyses the
\npotential disruption of cryptocurrency from an Islamic perspective.
\nHowever, this promising Islamic cryptocurrency has shifted from
\nnon-asset backed to physical asset- backed of cryptocurrencies. We
\nproposed design implementation the most straightforward way of the
\ntransaction with cashless wireless payments using one device
\nthrough Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) of blockchain
\ntechnology. We use digital currency with underlying asset Dinar and
\nDirham for a commercial transaction. However, the disruption of
\ncryptocurrencies may adapt Dinar and Dirham tokenization in
\nexchanging services in the conversion of fiat money into
\ncryptocurrency that complies with Islamic. Except comply with
\nIslam, it also needs a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) as a party who
\nguarantees the existence of assets. It concludes that the
\nintermediation function of third parties such a bank will be disrupted
\nin the profound shift of digital money based on Islamic
\ncryptocurrency

Is Bitcoin Good for Portfolio Diversification: Genetic Algorithm and Stochastic Dominance Approach

This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding bitcoin in a diversified portfolio comprising traditional assets (bonds, European, Asian and international stock market indices) and alternative assets (gold and commodities) from an European investor point of view. Monthly data cover the period from August 2010 to March 2016. This period is divided into two sub-periods during the euro zone debt crisis and after the crisis. To do this, we will, first of all, apply the genetic algorithms method to optimize two types of portfolio with and without bitcoin for both subperiods. Next, we will compare the two optimal portfolios using the stochastic dominance approach during the two sub-periods. Genetic algorithms show that the weighting of bitcoin during the crisis is greater than that after the crisis, which proves that bitcoin has a safe haven value during unstable periods. The results of stochastic dominance show that during and after the crisis, the portfolio including bitcoin dominates the one without bitcoin according to the 2nd and 3rd order. This shows that risk-averse investors prefer to include bitcoin in their portfolios to maximize their expected utility.

SWOT-ANALYSIS OF MODELS OF ORGANIZATION OF PROVISION OF PRIMARY HEALTH CARE IN THE UNITED TERRITORIAL COMMUNITIES

The article analyzes the strengths, weaknesses, potential opportunities and threats in the process of forming and making appropriate management decisions to integrate health facilities into united territorial communities (UTC) infrastructure, or other options, in the process of decentralization. The basic package of new legislative and regulatory documents has been worked out, which envisages radical changes and systemic reforms, decentralization of power - transfer from the executive bodies to local self-government bodies of a considerable part of powers, resources and responsibilities. A number of reform changes have been identified, which may lead to the expected institutional, organizational and structural-functional changes of the existing public health management system in Ukraine and changes in the individual functional characteristics of the entities of this system. The differences between medical reforms in terms of administrative reform, the role of UTC in this process, in relation to a number of other European countries are considered. On this basis, possible options for the development of events in the context of territorial governance of these processes in the system of health in Ukraine have been proposed. In order to continue scientific research in this direction, the next stage of the evolution of the formation and adoption of appropriate management decisions in the UTC is to consider the cooperation of the UTC in the creation of joint infrastructure medical facilities, their governing bodies, implementation of projects of activity, financing and maintenance.

Towards Efficient Integration of Blockchain for IoT Security: The Case Study of IoT Remote Access

The booming Internet of Things (IoT) market has drawn tremendous interest from cyber attackers. The centralized cloud-based IoT service architecture has serious limitations in terms of security, availability, and scalability, and is subject to single points of failure (SPOF). Recently, accommodating IoT services on blockchains has become a trend for better security, privacy, and reliability. However, blockchain's shortcomings of high cost, low throughput, and long latency make it unsuitable for IoT applications. In this paper, we take a retrospection of existing blockchain-based IoT solutions and propose a framework for efficient blockchain and IoT integration. Following the framework, we design a novel blockchain-assisted decentralized IoT remote accessing system, RS-IoT, which has the advantage of defending IoT devices against zero-day attacks without relying on any trusted third-party. By introducing incentives and penalties enforced by smart contracts, our work enables "an economic approach" to thwarting the majority of attackers who aim to achieve monetary gains. Our work presents an example of how blockchain can be used to ensure the fairness of service trading in a decentralized environment and punish misbehaviors objectively. We show the security of RS-IoT via detailed security analyses. Finally, we demonstrate its scalability, efficiency, and usability through a proof-of-concept implementation on the Ethereum testnet blockchain.

Islamic view towards Bitcoin

This paper proposes to analyze the agent behavior by means of big data extracted from the search engine « Google trends » and Twitter API to visualize the emotions and the manner of thinking about « Bitcoin » in the Islamic context. Two kinds of sentiment measures are constructed. The first is based on the search query of the word « Bitcoin » with religious connotation all over the world from 14/04/2017 to 14/04/2018 in weekly frequency. The second is built on twitter data from 03/04/2018 to 13/04/2018, by using a Bayesian machine learning device exploiting deep natural language processing modules to assign emotions and sentiment orientations. In the next step, the Granger causality analysis is used to investigate the hypothesis that this sentiment causes the volatility and the returns of « Bitcoin ». The results show that, at a first-level that twitter users of the word « Islamic Bitcoin » improve positive sentiment. Secondly, the Twitter sentiment measure has a significant effect on lagged Bitcoin returns and volatility. Furthermore, this sentimental variable Granger causes Bitcoin returns and volatility. This study contributes to the literature by studying the influence of the doctrinal view towards Bitcoin on his prices dynamics. Empirical Analysis Тowards the Effect of Social Media on Cryptocurrency Price and Volume

Bitcoin’s value is highly dependent on the communities that use it. This network effect is true for all new technologies. Today’s online communities are so large in population that both the Facebook user and Youtuber populations have surpassed the Chinese population. We take a big data approach using millions of samples of posts from Twitter, Telegram, and Reddit to study how and if social media platforms, the epitome of online communities, affect Bitcoin’s price and volume as well as the price and volume of fifteen other top cryptocurrencies. We work in collaboration with Solume, a data centered fin-tech startup, as well as with Sentistrength, an opinion mining tool developed by researchers in the UK, to classify the sentiment of the millions of posts we study. We collected millions of posts related to 16 cryptocurrencies from November 2017 through August 2018 on an hourly basis and explore social media volume sentiment effect on these cryptocurrencies. Findings confirm that volumes of exchanged posts may predict the fluctuations of Bitcoin’s price but mainly, they predict volume. We also find that Reddit and Telegram posts have greater impact on Bitcoin volume than Twitter. Results indicate that information about the use of social media platforms can assist in tracking real world behavior and may even predict real financial market trends.

Efficiency in the markets of crypto-currencies

We show that the level of market-efficiency in the five largest cryptocurrencies is highly time-varying. Specifically, before 2017, cryptocurrency-markets are mostly inefficient. This corroborates recent results on the matter. However, the cryptocurrency-markets become more efficient over time in the period 2017–2019. This contradicts other, more recent, results on the matter. One reason is that we apply a longer sample than previous studies. Another important reason is that we apply a robust measure of efficiency, being directly able to determine if the efficiency is significant or not. On average, Litecoin is the most efficient cryptocurrency, and Ripple being the least efficient cryptocurrency.
