Patient-mediated Health Data Exchange using Blockchain
Abstract
A significant resource for advertising is medical data for the study. To improve medical research and create novel therapies for a range of medical diseases, medical data is an invaluable resource. However, the gathering and use of health data for research also raises significant ethical and legal issues, such as data privacy, security, and consent. This is because health data is typically handled by hospitals or some type of centralized data management company, which can easily sell this data to researchers without the patient’s consent and even though the patient receives no financial benefit from it and is unaware of where his or her data is being used, violating the patient’s right to privacy. No innovation now gives patients complete access to their data. As a result, this article suggests patient-mediated health data exchange, a comprehensive framework that uses blockchain-based technology to manage an individual patient’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) and offers a marketplace where a patient may simply monetize their data with their permission. The suggested framework outlines a healthcare system that aspires to make the patient the legitimate owner of data and makes it simple for researchers to get data through the market. If a patient chooses to sell their data on the open market, the data will be anonymized to preserve their privacy before being shared with researchers and will be made available to the buyer on a subscription basis. This strategy can give patients more control over their private health data and enable them to monetize it if they so want. Smart contracts are also used to uphold data-sharing agreements and guarantee that the data is only utilized for that purpose. Additionally, data will be submitted by qualified doctors during the patient’s visit, when the patient will give the doctor permission to view and amend the EHR’s health information area by giving them the key to assure data veracity. Finally, we provide an EHR that is unchangeable to demonstrate the usefulness of our solution. In addition to lowering the chance of mistakes and fraud, this can enhance data security and privacy.
