Vote for the Blockchain
Authors:Usman W. Chohan
Abstract
This paper considers the merits of implementing blockchain-based voting, with a particular view towards improving democratic participation in developing countries. Using the case study of Pakistan’s 2024 elections, the paper argues that there are multiple benefits of considerable significance in implementing blockchain-based digital voting, including: combatting voter fraud, boosting turnout, maintaining transparency, reducing costs, improving accuracy, addressing illiteracy-accessibility, improving women participation, and enfranchising the diaspora.
