Enhancing Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Management: A Blockchain-Based Model

Abstract

The pharmaceutical supply chain is intricate, involving various stakeholders such as manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, pharmacies, regulatory bodies, and healthcare providers. This complexity introduces challenges, including a lack of transparency, counterfeit drugs, and limited access to crucial information. These challenges emphasize the critical need for the implementation of a robust tracking system that ensures security, privacy, transparency, decentralization, and authenticity across the entire supply chain. This study proposes a solution by introducing a blockchain-based model for pharmaceutical supply chain management. Capitalizing on the decentralized and transparent features inherent in blockchain technology, our model aims to effectively address the aforementioned challenges and elevate the overall efficiency and integrity of the pharmaceutical supply chain. This research significantly contributes to the integration of innovative technologies, such as blockchain, to mitigate risks and establish a safer and more reliable pharmaceutical supply chain.
