Revolutionary Land Registry System Powered By Blockchain
Abstract
This research brings attention to how blockchain technology can see the inefficiencies, corruption, and lack of transparency in the existing land registration system and revolutionize the way land is registered in countries like India. The system currently relies on slow traditional processes, has many intermediaries, is vulnerable to fraud, and leads to disputes over property rights, and minimality of trust in transactions. Blockchain’s decentralized, tamper-proof ledger is the solution since it provides a secure, transparent, and efficient way to record land transactions. By leveraging blockchain, it is possible to achieve an 80% cost reduction and a 10-fold efficiency improvement, highlighting the system’s transformative impact. Including the centralized elements of the infrastructure makes it possible for distributed ledgers, immutability, and cryptographic security which in turn help to prevent fraud and unauthorized changes. Similar to the above, blockchain also eliminates the need for a central authority, reducing the risk that is posed by the corruption of one individual. Case studies from countries such as Georgia, Sweden, Honduras, and other countries demonstrate that blockchain-based land registries can speed up processes and reduce time for transactions, and build trust. Finally, this research finds that combining blockchain technology with legal and administrative frameworks for land registration can solve key challenges to achieving greater security and efficiency. Land registration systems can be more efficient, secure, and transparent by taking blockchain into legal and administrative frameworks. The conclusion of this research is that blockchain can solve the age-old issue of land registration and offers a base on which better trustworthy and more streamlined land management practices can be built.
