Improving Drone Operational Efficiency through IoT-Blockchain Integration

Authors:Shiva MehtaDanish Kundra

Abstract

This article presented a new hybrid modular framework incorporating IoT technologies and blockchain. One of the proposed framework’s main goals is to eliminate the flaws related to drone communication networks, including security risks and performance inefficiency. The article reveals the examination that helps drone operations become more secure, efficient, and reliable using the alternate framework. There is tremendous progress, which is visible when you compare it to ordinary communication methods. These are the significant findings from the experiment in which 120 milliseconds were reduced to 90 milliseconds of transmitting time. Also, from 50 Mbps to 70 Mbps, the amount of data sent each second is improved, and the operational time improved from 95% to 99%. Besides, integrated mechanisms also increase and reach up to 95% of the initial 70% of the capability of fighting cyber-attacks. However, it offers perfect data integrity at the whooping rate of 100%. This directs blockchain technology as the pillar of drone communications because it provides safe access and secures communications from unauthorized tampering. Moreover, the 5 Wh of energy saved from 40 Wh to 35 Wh suggests that the framework is the most efficient while solving the need for sustainability and the effectiveness of drone operations. Moreover, these achievements reveal the framework’s superiority in resolving drone communication systems’ challenges and, ultimately, fuel the evolution of drone technology used in various sectors by providing a reliable and flexible system.
