Advancement in blockchain: revolutionizing healthcare

Abstract

Blockchain has evolved from a fad to actual applications in industries like healthcare thanks to its built-in characteristics like distributed ledger, decentralized storage, authentication, security, as well as data integrity. Blockchain applications used in the healthcare industry are required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) to be more secure, interoperable, and able to share information. Blockchain technology is being utilized to build healthcarerelated applications by researchers in both academia and business. Fraud detection and proof of identity are just two examples of how smart contracts may be put to use. The mining incentives, mining attacks, and key management still need to be addressed, even if considerable progress has been achieved. In addition, several of the blockchain trials now being examined do not meet the specific demands of many healthcare applications. In addition, this chapter touches on many additional research fields.
