MINING CRYPTOCURRENCIES USING “GREEN” ELECTRICITY

Abstract

In recent years, cryptocurrency mining has become one of the most energy-intensive industries, which raises serious concerns in terms of environmental sustainability. This article discusses the possibilities of using green electricity (renewable energy sources, RES) to reduce the carbon footprint of mining. The article analyzes modern technologies, economic aspects and prospects for the introduction of environmentally friendly solutions in the cryptocurrency industry. The article presents the results of an analysis of scientific positions regarding the prospects for the development of cryptocurrency mining using “green” electricity. The article aims to evaluate current data on the use of electricity for mining cryptocurrencies, as well as to understand what actions are being taken to reduce the carbon footprint of this activity worldwide. It has been shown that cryptocurrency mining can effectively serve as additional income due to reduced energy costs due to “green” electricity.
