This paper aims at discussing what blockchain is, its attributes, and its application in finance, healthcare, supply chain and governance. It is a decentralized system that provides transparency, security, and a low level of alteration, which makes it reliable and eliminates the need for middlemen. This also comprises blockchain structures, consensus mechanisms, smart contracts as well as the comparison of the cryptocurrency with traditional systems based on decentralization, cryptographic security and scalability. Blockchain is beneficial for strengthening the digital transactions, securing the healthcare data and the traceability of the supply chain. Thus, the issues like scalability, legal aspects and adoption remain to be a concern. It examine present and future studies and development which may help to eliminate these issues and strengthen the position of blockchain in the sphere of digital and decentralized markets.
