Renaissance of the international cryptocurrencies’ market
Abstract
The topic of the article is time-relevant due to revisionist trends today as to the issues of emission, circulation, use and trade in cryptocurrencies. After a number of bankruptcies, financial scandal, fraud and arrests of crypto-bosses, the scientific interest toward this field of financial economics dramatically decreased and shifted mostly to a sphere of regulation and rule-making. However, now, there emerges quite a strong scientific interest to cryptomarkets, especially on part of professional investors, institutional investors, commercial banks, pension funds and others. This happens largely thanks to a new wave of interest-rate expectations and easy-money policy for 2024. Such expectations stimulated equity markets and other financial markets globally, including the international cryptocurrency market. With this in mind, there is a need to revise some of the ideas behind the economic theory of cryptocurrencies, their workings and use. The results of the article help come up with general ways of cryptomarket developments in 2024-2025.
