Abstract

The blockchain, emerging over the past decade, stands as a groundbreaking technology aimed at creating a distributed ledger accessible across all network nodes. This ledger, designed to record transactions, assets, and smart contracts, operates in a decentralized manner, free from ownership or control by any single entity. In this chapter, we provide a comprehensive overview of the blockchain system, delineating its layers and components while highlighting its diverse applications. Specifically, we delve into two applications within the realm of health care and one within livestock management, underscoring the transformative potential of blockchain technology across various domains.
