Trustworthiness of Blockchain Technology in Healthcare 5.0 and Industry 5.0
Abstract
The proposed work analyses the role of blockchain technology in the evolution of Healthcare 5.0 and Industry 5.0. Blockchain is a shared ledger that is distributed over a network. Basically, it is a list of connected blocks where the data are recorded securely using asymmetric encryption and hashing techniques. The features of blockchain such as security, transparency, immutability, consensus, and decentralization make this technology a much needed one in the digital age. The unbreakable security is one important feature that every organization is striving to grab. Healthcare and industry are two disciplines that have evolved over time due to technological advancement. In the smart era, these disciplines have evolved to the stage where they are called as Healthcare 5.0 and Industry 5.0. Healthcare 5.0 is a patient-centric model whereas Industry 5.0 is customer-centric. Current healthcare and industry disciplines employ technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, computer vision, and blockchain for automation and personalization. Various studies are being conducted on blockchain technology and its potential applications in different disciplines. A complete security analysis of this technology is much needed since many researchers are rapidly developing blockchain framework for potential applications in different fields. The proposed study discusses distributed ledger technologies and compares blockchain with other distributed ledger technologies. The study emphasizes the importance of blockchain in Healthcare 5.0 and Industry 5.0. Security threats and challenges involved in blockchain technology are discussed. Quantum computing and its effect in strengthening the security of blockchain are analyzed to enhance trustworthiness of blockchain technology in post-quantum-computing era.
