Transforming Blood Donation Processes with Blockchain and IoT Integration: A augmented Approach to Secure and Efficient Healthcare Practices
Abstract
As the need for Blood grows, effective administration and tracking systems for blood donations are becoming increasingly important. To improve the blood donation process’s efficiency, transparency, and safety, this paper suggests a new system that utilizes blockchain technology and the Internet of Things (IoT). Integrity and safety of the blood supply may be guaranteed thanks to the combination of blockchain and IoT, which permits real-time monitoring of storage conditions and instant warning of any deviations. Storage limitations are addressed via the Interplanetary File System (IPFS), and the Ethereum blockchain is used for decentralized, transparent, and traceable management of blood donation operations. Both security evaluations and comparisons with existing solutions have confirmed the efficacy of the suggested blockchain-based system. The system’s adaptability to certain industries is made possible by its generalizability. Through smart contracts, blockchain technology ensures identity verification of donors, supply chain management, consent management, traceability, and automation. With IoT sensors, environmental factors like temperature, humidity, and alarms can be tracked in real-time, allowing constant quality control. Transparency, accessibility, and safety in blood donation processes are all improved by the IPFS-based system. More study is needed to determine whether these methods can be implemented in the real world. The proposed system would completely restructure how blood donations are handled, replacing them with a decentralized, trackable, and secure Network.
