Institutionalizing Blockchain Technology in Universities for sustainable Development
Abstract
The rapid expansion of advanced technology has made available, the progress of novel approaches to improve the way student information systems are maintained in every institute/university. Every university has crucial data of students that needs to be protected. It's a step towards a sustainable future. Currently, most universities use a centralized method of data storage, which increases the risk of data tampering. With the rise of digitization, it is vital for universities to accept technological change to maintain a stronger Student Information System. Blockchain is one such technology model. Blockchain is a distributed ledger that makes it possible to record every Node-to-Node transaction lacking the aid of a central authority. It is found that few organizations hesitate to adopt and diffuse the Blockchain technology. In India it is found that very less focus is given to exposure of new technologies and its implementation with context to education sector. An assessment of use cases is feasible to assist direct the decision to adopt Blockchain in university information systems by offering a conceptual blended interdependence model that contains pertinent factors. The basis of the research is to spot the individual factors that determine universities’ resolution to use Blockchain. Two factors, namely Use behavior and Intention to use, of universities are investigated by using a combo model of TAM and UTAUT. The research methodology adopted is both Qualitative and Quantitative method. The analysis involved statistical assessments including correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and Chi-square tests. The findings indicate a strong correlation between the elements of UTAUT and TAM factors and the adoption of blockchain technology by universities in their usage behavior. This study also presents an opportunity to universities to benefit from the guidelines on how to implement Blockchain in managing the university information system.
