Legal Documentation System Using Blockchain and Interplanetary File System

Abstract

In order to improve the security, efficiency, transparency and accessibility of legal records of court case evidence, this paper proposes the idea of development of blockchain based e-vault system. Utilizing the blockchain technology, the system guarantees the secure and transparent management of legal records of all the victims. This e-vault system will be built using robust blockchain platforms such as Ethereum, Hyperledger or Corda by developing smart contracts for the management of access, permissions and transactions. There is an user friendly interface for the lawyers, judges and victims for the operations like document uploading, retrieval, change tracking and information sharing. Privacy and confidentiality are the main concerns of the system and will manage the access controls, encryption and authentication mechanisms to safeguard the legal evidences and records. Integrating the system with already existing legal databases is also a focus to provide interoperability and smooth transition for the users.
