Abstract

With the rise of Bitcoin, blockchain technology has gained a lot of attention from the financial world. While the underlying distributed ledger technology has many potential applications, Bitcoin remains the most well-known and widely- adopted use case. As a result, Bitcoin is often seen as a bellwether for the wider blockchain industry. However, there is another side to blockchain that is often overlooked: dapps. Decentralized apps (dapps) are applications that run on a decentralized network, such as Ethereum. Unlike traditional apps, which are controlled by a central authority, dapps are open source and controlled by no one.
