Enhancing Transparency and Traceability in Handicrafts Supply Chains Using Blockchain and NFTs

Authors:Duc Bui TienKhiem Huynh GiaTrung Phan Hoang Tuan

Abstract

The handicraft industry, with its diverse and intricate supply chains, faces challenges in maintaining transparency and ensuring ethical sourcing due to incomplete traceability. This paper proposes a blockchain-based supply chain management system that incorporates smart contracts and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) to enhance transparency and data integrity from the artisan to the end consumer. The system was evaluated on multiple EVM-compatible platforms, including Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, Fantom, and Celo. The evaluation focused on key functions such as recording supply chain information, minting NFTs for product traceability, and securely transferring NFTs.The findings provided insights into transaction speed, resource utilization, and economic feasibility, highlighting the potential for cost reduction and increased efficiency in supply chain operations within the handicraft industry. This study demonstrates how blockchain technology, combined with smart contracts and NFTs, can create a more transparent and trustworthy supply chain network for handicrafts.
