Feasibility Study of Improving Blockchain-Based Self-Sovereign Identity Security using Artificial Intelligence and Lightweight Cryptography

Abstract

In this paper, we focus on blockchain-based mechanisms for securing self-sovereign digital identities of people (physical and legal). These solutions almost all depend on the near-daily use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices that themselves produce huge amounts of data while being resource constrained. We support the idea of integrating artificial intelligence as a mandatory step in the blockchain management process and the use of lightweight cryptography in zero-knowledge proofs. In essence, we identify at least eight attack vectors on self-sovereign identities and classified how these vectors could be secured using the two techniques.
