Abstract

As Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC) gain prominence in the global financial landscape, the need for efficient and secure Know Your Customer (KYC) processes becomes paramount. This research paper presents a comprehensive analysis of a blockchain-based solution designed to streamline KYC procedures for the Indian Digital Currency, 'e-Rupee.' Leveraging the innovative capabilities of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), this study investigates the synergistic potential of blockchain and CBDCs in enhancing financial security and inclusivity. The research delves into the technological intricacies of blockchain and DLT to underpin the foundation of the proposed KYC system. By utilizing blockchain’s immutable and decentralized ledger, the KYC process is made more secure, transparent, and convenient for both individuals and regulatory authorities. The 'e-Rupee' exemplifies the central bank’s dedication to financial innovation, and our study aims to provide a roadmap for other nations looking to implement similar solutions. This paper offers insights into the technical architecture, regulatory implications, and potential societal impacts of the blockchain-based KYC solution, shedding light on the transformative potential of integrating blockchain with CBDCs in the evolving landscape of digital finance.
