Abstract

1. Since the publication of the now famous Bitcoin whitepaper by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008, crypto-currencies and the technology behind them, namely blockchain, have become extremely “mainstream”, with the subject being at the center of many legal discussions. The book Blockchain, Law and Governance significantly contributes to the debates by analyzing both the collaborations and confrontations between the law and the blockchain. The purpose of the book is to show the areas in which blockchain can be effectively used and the legal challenges that it introduces “both from a private and a public perspective” (p.1). 2. The book opens with an introduction to blockchain and its interaction with the legal order.
