Integrated Approach using Blockchain, Sensors and Smart Contracts for Weather Alert

Abstract

Severe weather occurrences pose a growing risk to farming, requiring immediate implementation of climate resilience tactics. This article suggests a combined architecture that utilizes blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, and smart contracts to reduce the effects of climate disruption on agricultural. The architecture involves small-scale IoT sensors that consistently provide crop and weather information to a blockchain platform. This allows for automatic parametric insurance payments to be made when certain circumstances are fulfilled. The upgraded data improve climate models to provide more accurate predictions and early warnings. When considering adoption, it is important to focus on interoperability, scalability, and incentive structures to encourage involvement. Initial experiments show that it is possible to reduce crop losses and increase output. This study emphasizes the potential of combining these technologies to enhance food security in the face of increasing climatic variability.
