Bitcoin Goals

Abstract

It has been famously observed that money is the root of all evil, so it seems apt to wind up our examination of attackers and defenders by looking at a kind of money. In particular, we'll look at Bitcoin. In this chapter we start by looking at money more generally to understand what's hard about a system like Bitcoin. In the next chapter, we look at the mechanisms in Bitcoin that solve those problems, as well as examining some associated limitations.
