Token Fungibility Duality: Technical and Graphical Analysis on 404 Standards
Abstract
This paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of the ERC-404 and DN-404 blockchain standards, which innovate by integrating fungible (ERC-20) and non-fungible (ERC-721) token features. Smart contracts of these standards are examined to understand their operational mechanisms and impact on market dynamics. The analysis uncovers that ERC-404, while pioneering in linking fungible and non-fungible tokens, faces challenges like high transaction costs and network congestion. DN-404 emerges as an evolution, streamlining the asset transfer process to reduce costs and complexities. Graph analysis of Fungible Token Transfer Graph (FTG), Non-Fungible Token Mint Graph (NFMG), and Non-Fungible Token Burn Graph (NFBG) reveals a power-law distribution, indicating a concentration of activities among few addresses. The paper suggests five future research direction to optimize these blockchain standards for greater efficiency and market adaptability.
