Blockchain and Non-fungible Tokens Technology Application
Abstract
Blockchain technology enables the storage of transaction and product information in a decentralized and distributed database that is resistant to changes and manipulations. This research aims to identify the opportunities and challenges associated with using blockchain technology and tokenization in the market of valuable beehive products, such as honeydew honey and royal jelly, with a particular focus on enhancing food safety and quality assurance measures. The evaluation considered both the applications described in the literature and a practical implementation project conducted on an apiary farm in southeastern Poland. As part of the project, blockchain-based solutions and applications were developed for the beehive products market. The results indicate that blockchain technology can positively influence the market positioning of valuable beehive products, particularly honeydew honey and royal jelly. The primary benefit of using this technology is increased transparency in the beehive production chain. Blockchain-based applications enhance tracking and identification systems for products from apiary farms, which can lead to a reduction in counterfeiting, especially for specialty honey products.
